I got mine from 11street (imported). But when I try to use my SIM card from my current iphone 4 for the iPhone SE, the SIM card doesn't fit in. The iPhone SE size seems smaller. How come? Do I need to change it with telco? My telco is maxis.

iphone 4 uses micro sim, larger than SE which uses nano sim. Can visit maxis to change simcard.

Will maxis charge for the new nano SIM card? So you think they can allow me to keep both SIM cards so that whenever I want to switch back, I still hv the SIM card?

Unless your existing Sim Card change "push the outer plastic away to become nano, otherwise you have to go to maxis to change.
As for using 2 sim cards at any time. You have request it from your telco for additional chargers. Even though same number for both Sims, the settings is different from telco side.

Unless you meant changing your sim card to your other phone. There is a sim card converter/ adapter , that looks something like this http://www.amazon.com/Converter-Adapter-St...r/dp/B00B5KXRZO you can get it at lowyat or similar IT phone gadget shop in Malaysia, its even sold in garage sales trade zone in the forum if you know where to find
*
Thank you for sharing with me the info on the adaptor. It allows us to fit the nano sim card into the bigger one (micro) and still allow me to use my iphone 4. But the reverse cannot be done, as in, there is no adaptor for fitting bigger sim card into smaller one, right?

In that case, I will go exchange my micro for the nano, but buy an adaptor if I need to ever use the iphone 4 again.

pretty much the case , but new sim card these days (the standard sim card) can change from big to small by yourself (just like puzzle , you will know what i meant once you got the sim card) and use adapter.

I think I know what you mean, i.e. I can cut it out myself. But I don't think my current one can do that.

I phone 4 uses micro sim, iphone se uses nano sim. Just go to any maxis branch, they will issue you with a replacement of the correct size for your phone.
*
I went to one maxis reseller shop and was told they will charge RM10 for the replacement nano SIM card. I just want to check with you guys whether this is correct?

ok, now I got my nano sim card. Now I wonder how to transfer my data and apps into my SE.

1. Are my phone contacts, whatapps data, games data, apps data, etc all inside my previous SIM? or is it inside my previous iphone 4?

2. Do I need to re-download every apps and games again in my iphone SE? It would be terrible having to key in one by one all of my phone contacts again and apps data again. Nightmare!

3. If it is inside my previous Sim, how do I transfer those data into my new Sim card?

Please advise.

Use iTunes, backup your old phone, then backup to new phone.

I understand that iClouds only backup a few key data, am I right? Whereas iTunes backup everything and I don't have to re-download a single Apps again (with all the Apps data intact) on my new phone?

Now the question is, do I need to activate my new Sim card before or after I restore the iTunes backup on my new phone?

Why cannot restore using iTunes? Please refer my previous post question. I was asking about backup and how to transfer all apps and data into the new phone, and someone said to use iTunes. Now you say iTunes does not work?

Either way does not matter, what matters is that the apple id is the same for both old and new unit.

Do a backup 1st of your old unit. Then restore the backup in your new iPhone. New iphone must be having same apple id. see here http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1766

Thanks for your reply. I called the Apple toll free no. and was informed that I needed to download whatever Apps first into my new phone..so that whatever Apps or games I have in old unit, I also hv it in the new phone. Then after that, only synchronize from the iTunes restore backup ( which contains the data from old phone). She said this should work. The problem with this approach is I am not sure if all my previously purchased Apps inside my current Apps Store - how do I know of all of them will be transferred to the new phone? This is critical because of my Apps are no longer available to be downloaded or no longer free.

What ur describing is the syncing method. Plug in the old phone to iTunes. In settings, ensure that itunes copies all the apps on ur old phone.

Then connect the new phone. As it will be using same ID, in iTunes u can manually copy and past and sync and/or auto sync to your new phone. Whatever is not in the new phone will be copied to it and vice versa.

Those apps which u have bought for free and now is not free, you can download it through the apple ID account page. There should be a downlod apps section, it will list all the apps there with links to download.

Thanks, I have done just that. Took me long time to update my iTunes version first.I noted every data still there except for my WhatApps. My previous WhatApps data archived all not there anymore. How to retrieve from
iTunes? How come it didnot restore for WhatApps? sad.gif
Is there a way to select only WhatsApps to be sync back into my new phone again?

Update at 11.14pm
I tried to restore again using my backup in iTunes. After updating, I find that my WhatApps messages are still not there. All gone. But other Apps, the data are still inside.

But I need to check with you guys whether the new Apps that come with iphone SE, will it disappear after I restored the old set of data and Apps?

if you don't want to restore Whatapp messages via iTunes backup, alternatively you just use Whatsapp Chat Backup feature in the app.

I use "Archive", but I cannot see any button to "unarchive" it back.

iTunes does not backup your whatsapp even if you backing up your phone with iTunes. It has to backup with iCloud

This is what I did not know. I was informed everything will be back-up using iTunes. I did not use iClouds. Now all my WhatApps messages all gone.

There are 3 ways to backup Whatsapp messages on iPhone:
1. Using iTunes backup - this will backup everything on your phone including iMessages, contacts, apps data, Whatsapp messages etc. (except apps as they will be redownloaded from AppStore after restore) - fastest method as everything restore as old phone without using cloud.

2. Using iCloud backup - backup everything same as above except it takes forever to restore because need to grab backup from Apple server.

3. Using Whatsapp app internal iCloud backup - this will only backup Whatsapp messages to the iCloud.

I think if you archived all your messages previously, just drag your main chat timeline down and you'll see the Archived Chats tab at the top. Select the chats you want to unarchive by swiping to left and choose Unarchive
*
I used the first method and found every message in WhatApps gone. And I don't see any "main chat timeline" for me to drag it down and see the "archived chats tab at the top". Where is it?

I read the instructions for restoring data from iClouds. It seems you have to erase all data and settings first. Can I restore iClouds for only WhatApss data and don't have to erase all the other data in other Apps, contacts, SMS messages, etc? Erase WhatApps and download again the Apps, then restore...can it work?

as i said, if you have backup previously via method 3. you can uninstall Whatsapp and restore back only Whatsapp messages from iCloud within the app without resorting to the main iCloud backup.
*
The method you showed is just the unarchiving method. On my new phone, there is nothing to unarchiving because the existing messages were in the old phone.

By the way, there is the RM15 vs RM49 tempered glass for iPhone SE. Is the cheaper one good enough? Will it affect sensitivity especially with the TouchID fingerprint function?

means u didn't archive your chat previously. since u still have your old phone and messages, just put back the sim in old phone and backup the chats in the app. then put back sim in new phone and restore the chats from within the app.

That method you mentioned back-up to iCloud. The problem is how to retrieve the data back once I hv back up. I read that in order to retrieve from iCloud, first I hv to delete all existing data. This is crazy because iCloud does not restore all data completely. Also it does not restore all of my Apps in the phone before I delete them. So, how?
