MS office Home and Business 2013 cost RM 700. Too expensive.

It is now known as WPS Office. It depends on how extensive you use the Excel. If you need the functionality of VBA, then probably you still better buy MS Office. For office use or Personal? Student version is cheap I believe https://www.wps.com/wps-office-personal

Your office has limited license? Like some companies installed Libre Office for most of their staffs except manager and above

For office use or Personal? Student version is cheap I believe https://www.wps.com/wps-office-personalIt just a normal usage like admin work. Not doing accounting or chart. It is for both, personal and office use. Ya, MS student 2013 just cost RM300 but cant be used at office according to my colleague from IT.

A group of programmer split from Open Office project when Oracle took over the Open Office because they did not like the term and limited freedom under Oracle. So they formed Libre Office. For general use, it is very much like MS Office

WPS and Libre can open Microsoft Office files BUT arrangement of letters (e.g. ad brochure) is not guaranteed. If you are just doing tables you will have no problems.
Basically the simpler the document the more accurate it will be as compared to the Microsoft original.
The free office suites are NOT 100% compatible. But, they work well enough for (most) simple documents.

yup LibreOffice is the way to go but its compatibility with Office 2007 and later sucks especially in the case of Impress / Powerpoint (gimmicks do not work vice versa)...
