Extension tube is good for those can't afford the Macro lens.... and it is not cheap though, a good extension tube cost near to RM400 second hand. A new cheap Cosina 100mm Macro only RM650. But the good thing for extension tube is the flexibility to combine with any lens to make it a macro, very sharp macro pic you can get when combine with 50mm.

Just a test shot to show the usage of extension tube:

Both pics taken with full size, no crop.

Below is the closest range for 50mm Prime:


With extension tube attached(not the max yet), this is the result:


It turned my 50mm Prime becomes a 50mm Macro, which save $ and also you have a brighter aperture. The AF still fast as without the ring, with condition you must be in the focal range.

There seems to be a slight cyanish tint. Has your WB diffuser become reddish?

#7 could use more DOF to avoid it looking like a model. Same goes for #9. I like the ghosting in #10 heh.

#4 if use maximum DRO, will it come out better? i just feel the over exposure thingy is a bit uncomfortable....maybe that's just me

It's a very 'different' colour indeed. What white balance or colour space did u use? Look a bit like scanned photo...lol.

Then what macro lens were you using?
