Hey guys I have a Lenovo y40-80 here which the gpu underthrottles every single time when gaming to 300mhz at around 70c - 90c. Is this consider as overheating? Its annoying when I'm using a cooling fan and another standing fan pointing directly onto it. vmad.gif vmad.gif

UPDATE 1: Called Lenovo this morning and didn't get a complete answer. They said they'll transfer my case to the management and will look more into it to determine the solution.

Worst purchase so far. Sent it for 3 times for motherboards and graphic card repairs and the laptop is not even 1 years old or maybe I got a lemon unit?

Maybe both of us got a lemon set? Just made a complain to lenovo and currently waiting for their reply. I think the only solution is to reapply thermal paste.

Unreliable? Some of my friends are using MSI laptops and so far only one has problem the rest are working fine. Should've bought MSI instead of this crappy lenovo laptop.

they should apply thermal paste .... may be depends on luck
*
I think they applied some crappy thermal paste that is probarly on par with toothpaste. Changed 3 motherboards and problem still persist. I've ever wonder if they really changed it or just leave it as usual since they're making at a loss on this laptop and wouldn't want to change a new unit for me. Gonna pay a visit to the service centre again. Got a feeling that its gonna be the same.

No idea what series they used but the only thing it sounded like a helicopter when gaming and they're bulky that's one of the down side.

Thinking of selling it too but I need the specs for work and some gaming. Currently now there's no laptop that is slim, powerful and <3k like the y40. Really disappointed.

Slim and overheat comes hand in hand bud. Either get a new one or live with it. lol, or go and undervolt your CPU voltage.

The thing about lenovo is they have a locked bios you can't change anything except for time and boot sequence.
