yeah, nds has shorter battery life compared to ndsl. and actually ndsl has different battery lifes depends on the brightness of the screens. so the brighter the screens are, the shorter the battery life will be.other than this which 1 is more compatible towards modding or flashing or alteration or watsoever you want to do with it?
for second question, although i didnt mod mine, i can say that each console has no big differences actually and could be modded.
