i really need to know and learn and make a worth while purchase...

1. Of course a new one is better as you can take care of it yourself.
2. a NDS can be modded to run Flashcarts, also homebrew is pretty good allowing it to do many things.
3. yeah it can carry a lot of game, each game max size is around 128MB and the flashcart you can get a 1GB SD card. So you can averagely fit around 15+ games.
4. Yeah of course can play original and you need a flashcart for the other one.
5. If you got a flashcart, you can run a homebrew called Moonshell which allows you to do anything photos, videos, Mp3 and more!
6. Unless it's a DSL don't get it as DSL is a massive upgrade from the DS. You will regret if you got a DS and later see someone's DSL.
