What if Miyamoto Made Halo?

Last week, Shigeru Miyamoto surprised the Xbox community when he said in an interview with Entertainment Weekly:

"I could make Halo. It's not that I couldn't design that game. It's just that I choose not to."

Uffff... it was too late to apologize. Halo fans took that as an insult to their beloved franchise and to the people at Bungie Studios that have worked hard to make of Halo the emblematic series of the Xbox.

Miyamoto threw down the gauntlet and we are picking it up. What would Halo have been like if the designer of Super Mario was the creator of the franchise?

Well, first off, any Halo game designed by Mario creator would certainly be an E-rated game and the most outrageous rating we could get from a Miyamoto game is an E10+ because of minimal, very little blood. The logo of the series would definitely have a more colorful look, something like this:

    The Halo mega-series centers around Master Plumber Petty Officer JUMPMAN-117, an Italian super-plumber equipped with an advanced armor and water back-pack and his AI companion, Cortoadna.

Exclusive Interview - Halo: Uprising
IGN has the first details on the Marvel Comics story that is integral to Halo lore.

But what about the story of the Halo Universe? When we last saw Master Chief, he had stowed away on a Forerunner ship, intent on finishing the fight with the Covenant. What happens next? Bungie is actually going to tell that story with Marvel Comics. Halo: Uprising is a four issue mini-series which will track the actions of Master Chief, as well as the Covenant and a city on Earth, spanning the time between the end of Halo 2 and Halo 3.

Last summer, at the San Diego Comic-Con, Marvel announced that they would be working on the Halo project. This past spring, at the New York Comic-Con, it was announced that writer Brian Bendis and artist Alex Maleev, best known for their award-winning work on Daredevil, would be handling the first arc of the series, which ships in July. Further details have been scarce. Marvel and Bungie have kept a tight lid on any and all information regarding the series - until now. IGN has been given the exclusive first details on the series from Brian Bendis, and Halo fans are definitely going to be interested. Read on for more.

IGN Comics: Tell us the basic concept of the story - who is involved, where do we find them when the arc opens and where does this fit into the bigger picture (the games, the war and so on)?

Bendis: We get to fill the story for Master Chief in between Halo 2 and 3. We get Master Chief from the end of that story to the beginning of the new one.

And we get to explore our ideas and new characters down on Earth that will allow a fresh perspective on the human level to the near holocaust that is taking place on Earth.

So what's the big news? Well, scrolling through the list of onscreen text for party menus one sentence in particular stands out:

The game cannot start because all players are set to observer. Too many players for splitscreen. Only 2 players may play splitscreen coop on the same Xbox 360 console. The party size is too large to start the game. Up to 4 Players may play coop on Xbox Live or System Link. Loading information from Xbox Live...

That's right, 4 player Co-operative play will be included in in Halo 3. Available both online over Xbox Live and also locally via System link. We begged for it's inclusion, we got it.

Bungie look all set to live up to their promises delivering all they can with this final entry in the Halo trilogy. This is gonna be sweet.
