According to an anonymous source, we've been told Microsoft will be revealing the official release date of its highly anticipated Bungie-developed shooter soon. The company is expected to announce that Halo 3 will ship to North American consumers on September 25th of this year, with European Xbox 360 owners getting the game just one day later on September 26th.

That's just a couple days after the Tokyo Game Show goes down in Japan, a move which could be seen as an effort to downplay announcements from Microsoft's competitors.

I'm off to the Halo 3 Hollywood premiere event, kicking off within the hour, so keep your eyes peeled for news.

it looks like it may take a while for the matchmaking to match the players. i was at the lobby for over a minute and still no players joined.

halo3 ROOOCKS!! btw, u can party up with other ppl, such as ppl on yer frenz, n if u want to join or invite, u can only do so in the "lobby", which is kinda weird. i think it mite be better to have invites during games

Halo 3 Zune FTW!!

It's so super sleek & sexy Those stuff that they bundle into the Zune are so nice, soundtracks, concept arts etc.
Too bad it's too expensive for me.

ith the amount of posts we see on our forums ... it's clear, Microsoft decided to start banning Xbox360 with modified firmwares today.
While it's the same release date as Halo3 beta, it seems that people who didn't download Halo3 also get banned. They probably detect backup discs (and not the modified firmware) when you play 'em online (not confirmed yet).
Even people using the new firmwares with disc-jitter added get banned, so it looks like Microsoft found another way to detect it.
Just like on Xbox1 it seems Microsoft bans the console unique ID, not the LIVE user.
Many people on the official xbox.com forums also claim they got banned but didn't have a flashed firmware ... we'll have to see how that story develops in the coming hours and days.

Ok.. guys.. time to be mindful of all the cheap 2nd hand 360s that are going to pop out all over the wood work now!

Anyway my thoughts after managing to get two rounds of Halo 3 in last night.
- I need to remember not to press X to reload
- I need to remember not to press the right thumbstick to jump
- I need to remember to press the DPad before screaming "Look out, behind you!!!" (I hate that!! time to file a bug report!)

A Halo modding community has accidentally made various hidden game files public, found by retrieving hidden data in the Halo 3 Beta code.
Before we go any further, a warning: the following are in no way official or confirmed features of Halo 3.

* New equipment: Instacover ; Smoke (suggested this might be a smoke grenade?) ; Jammer
* New vehicles: Chopper ; Pelican ; Shadow
* New weapons: Flamethrower ; Claymore Grenade
* New mode: Infection (described as "Destroy the Flood or become infected. Score points for killing flood or big points for infecting a human. The player with the most points wins."
* New rankings: The highest rankings are now Killpocalypse and Killionaire, instead of Double Kill and Triple Kill.
* A reference to a map editor has also been found, a returning feature from Halo 2.
