I would like to know smtg. Is it possible for a system to fail to achieve Prime stable if lets say everything is left at stock speeds. Yea, that means no volt increase, no pushing FSB or multiplier... not even tighten RAM timings. Is it possible?

yes...when ur system is unstable such as voltage flunctuation or processor spoiled..

Voltage fluctuations are caused due to malfunctioning PSU right? Okay, considering everything is working fine.. not spoilt anywhere... is it still possible to fail those torture tests on Prime95?

You cannot predict this one.Sometimes your Prime95 will fail eventhough you're on stock/default settings. For me most of the time it is caused by the memory incompatiblility or problems with memory settings eventhough on default settings. There is also alot of possibilities that the prime95 will fail because of any other hardwares problem.

prime fail is because of wrong calculation, suggest you to check your hardware like cpu, mobo and ram. high temp would cause prime fail too

not always all blame on the PSU. Some boards flucntuates badly, like for example my Abit IS7-E board. Stock in BIOS is 1.55V, Windows is 1.52V, full load can even drop till 1.42V

Mostly failed is due to hardware incompatible or RAM

I see... I guess there is no way of saying any pc is 'prime stable' unless it has been tested out.

Btw, which torture test is the best for load tests on ur pc. The 1st, 2nd or 3rd torture test?

Anyone can explain this one to me ? whistling.gif

Small FFTs is test CPU.
Blend is testing RAM.
But if you are using dual-core system,
you need to use Custom setting.

I'm guessing you're using a chapalang psu.....,once before my 6600GT produced artifacts on default settings when i benchmarked it using 3d mark05....only later on did i find out that it was my psu causing the problems....

Small FFTs for CPU, LArge FFTs for power consumption and heat, Blend for RAM

for memory I prefer using memtest86 and memtest for Windows

your case is same as mine. I'm using Abit IS7-E also. my prime failed sometimes on default settings.

Meaning to say, there are many factors that causes Prime to fail such as

- PSU
- Motherboard
- Hardware Incompatibility
- Heat?

Anything else that can cause a system to fail to achieve prime stable at stock speeds?

basically, there are tons of factors, but the common ones are heat and insuffcient power.
if u find increasing ur vcore like crazy doesnt help, it could be due to ur power supply not giving enough juice.
