If you love the Canon 5D Mark IV DSLR and have been waiting for its successor to be announced, brace yourself for a big disappointment: Canon has reportedly decided to discontinue its popular and pioneering 5D line of cameras.

Canon was, as recently as October 2019, said to be working on the 5D Mark V for a release by the end of 2020. But with a big push toward mirrorless cameras and the industry struggling with the economic devastation caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, it seems that the camera has now been erased from Canon’s roadmap.

Canon Rumors is hearing from a reliable source that there will not be a Canon 5D Mark V and that there will be no direct successor to the Canon 5D Mark IV.

“I have been told that the EOS 5D series is going the way of the EOS 7D series,” Craig Blair of Canon Rumors writes. “The source claims that the EOS 5D Mark V development was stopped ‘some time ago’ […]”

Today went to camera store to test this lens out.
First impression, this is surprisingly lightweight, and compact. Got to see it to feel the impact.
Quite a hefty price to pay for this lens. Hopefully one day can own it.

That's the RF 70-200mm f/2.8 lens right? Did you get to try it?

Multiple outlets with inside information are reporting that Canon is holding back and/or delaying shipments of the new EOS R5 and EOS R6 cameras as a result of the overheating issues that early reviews have been reporting. This could be a sign that a recall is in the works.

While a recall might seem like a drastic step given how transparent Canon has been about the thermal limitations in the EOS R5 and EOS R6, both Canon Rumors and EOSHD are reporting that Canon is shipping far fewer units than expected, and has delayed the second allocation of cameras “significantly.”

Tested out the R5 and R6 today.
First impressions are, great AF in low light condition, very fast and accurate SERVO, dual sim card, very good IBIS, feels better in the hands compared to EOS R, and the shutter sound is softer and more buttery (not in my favor as I prefer loud and rough shutter sound).
Both cameras feel literally the same, the only difference physically is the top panel, R5 with screen, and R6 with the mode dial. The rep also said R5 is fully magnesium alloy inside out, whereas R6 only magnesium alloy on the top panel, the rests of the body is polycarbonate (plastic).

Either R5 or R6, to me, I think it's worth the upgrade from EOS R if you're doing photography. For superior AF system, dual simcard, IBIS, joystick, wheel dial, 12fps, ISO performance, Dynamic range (rep said its better than EOS R).

R5 is a joke, but definitely great for photography.

I'll still go with an EOS RP. tongue.gif

Want to know why is R5 a joke? And why EOS RP is better? hmm.gif

I only tried holding it, and it is too heavy for my liking or carrying around.
Never really tried shooting with it yet.

Wow, the RF 28-70mm f/2 is actually heavier than the RF 70-200mm f/2.8!

Canon Warns EOS R3 Orders Could Take More Than Six Months to Fulfill

user posted image

All camera manufacturers are struggling to produce enough supply to meet demand, and Canon is no exception. The company has published an apology stating that it could take more than six months before it is able to deliver on new EOS R3 orders.

Canon has published the notice to its website as an apology. As has been the case with most of these warnings of low stock or lack of supply, the note points to higher demand than anticipated for the EOS R3 as the reason for the delay.

It’s not just the R3 that has been affected, however. Canon also stipulates that orders for the RF 14-35mm f/4 L IS USM are also going to be delayed.

What is unusual is that Canon is providing somewhat of a timeline: up to or beyond six months for cameras ordered at this point.

QUOTE
It will be shipped in sequence, but it may take more than half a year to deliver when you place a new order.

At the same time, he is telling you not to buy any of their DSLR products. Is this good news for Nikon? Or will Nikon follow them soon?
