I have been using my 60D with the 18-55 kit lens for a while. Looking for an upgrade to the EF-S 17-55mm f/2.8 IS USM, but it is out of my budget. Any alternative general purpose lenses recommendation ? biggrin.gif

Here are some suggestions:

1. EF-S15-85mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM (RRP RM3,599)
2. EF-S17-85mm f/4-5.6 IS USM (RRP RM3,349)
3. EF-S18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM (RRP RM2,549)
4. EF24-105mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM (RRP RM2,149)

Everyone else is more than welcome to add on if they have better recommendations smile.gif

I currently own one. I use it mostly when travelling, when you need a very portable tripod with legs that can cater for almost every situation possible. When I'm not on vacation mode, then I'll use it for casual shooting. It also depends on how often you're using it - if you're using it once in a while, then it may not.

Plan to buy one for travelling use. But i might not use it often. Any alternative to recommend ? biggrin.gif

Depends on which Gorillapod he is into with. The SLR zoom is quite expensive.

Yea, I have good experience with it as well. Backpack throughout NZ for 3 months and it hardly fail me. But most of the time I remove the centre column for greater stability.

Eventually the Sirui are more expensive then the Gorillapod hmm.gif I 'm looking into Gorillapod because it can grip into object tongue.gif
