Weeeee... After asking about guitar strings, the busybody me is here again to ask about guitar picks. blush.gif

Which guitar picks do you guys prefer most? Are you guys particular about using the one and only brand of guitar picks? Anyone here likes to collect different guitar picks for fun?

any > 0.7mm pick will do for me.
for most durable pick,
u can try chrome metal pick from S&B, but it will damage ur guitar strings...

now using jim dunlop tortex pick, the material seem like more durable compare to other plastic/fibre pick...

ohya, i do collect ESP artist picks for fun... =)

I was a Jim Dunlop Jazz III loyal user. But many music shops I visited for the pass few months do not sell these picks. So, am going to change to Paul Gilbert picks now. Sigh... bye.gif

I used to have one of those metal pick too. Silliest purchase I ever made. Cost me RM4.50 from Woh Fatt and it sounds horrible.

Now I alternate between Dunlop Jazz III picks (black) or those purple Dunlop.

I use primarily the Jim Dunlop Nylons, Heavy Gauge.... I like it because it has a good grip and slim enough to pull off my P.O.Ds. I do use on occasion use the Dunlop Tortex 1mm (The blue ones) and Dunlop Gels X-tra Heavy, just to spice things up.

For my acoustic guitars, I use Dunlop Gels Medium. I find it has a nice bounce back to the acoustic.

And most importantly, for my Guitar Hero SG Controller, it's the Jim Dunlop Nylons for Alternate Picking songs, and Jim Dunlop X-Tra Heavy for the mostly downpicked songs.....

i used to use ibanez paul gilbert's pick...but ever since bentley ran out of stock...i swap to dunlop 0.88mm tortex (dark grey)

like what akeiser said, i find the tortex are more durable than any of the picks i have used before...it can take quite a lot of beatings, scratching and hammering...

other picks will just break in 2 in a few weeks, but the tortex is still fine, except for a few 'bites' here and there...

I use those dunlop 1.5mm picks. Tortex, is it? Not sure. The green ones. Those artist picks dont state how thick it is... I have some satriani picks, not using them. Too thin.

Hmmmmmm. Maybe we should place a custom order of Dunlop picks, and then have it customized with the LYN.net Guitar Phreaks logo or something!!!

My Jim Dunlop Jazz III is a red one. What's the difference between red and black? Any other colour other than these two?

How if we buy them in bulk? Like let's say 50 picks.

The black one is the harder pick. One can say the black is 'hard' and the red 'medium'.

The ones I bought from Woh Fatt are black though, don't remember if they have red.

As for bulk purchases, I don't think they have 50 for you to buy also, more like around 20 or less.

i bought both red and black dunlop jazz III picks from harmony music in uptown.
i previously used the paul gilbert ones, but the jazz pick seems to fit better now.

my old old collection of picks, havent done anything in the past few yrs.

the one beside the sharkfin is a angle pick...the tip is angled for supposedly better picking angle.
then the picks i used to use, paul gilbert's and teckpicks...
then the rest other misc ones...

Yes. Cut out credit cards for the win.
I used them to.
Then I switched to cut out compact discs.
Sometimes, I steal a Jim Dunlop Jazz III.

But, Compacts Discs, are the best. Yes. The best.
