Yea, the AMEX wave is hit or miss, so far only seen it working on MBB terminals

use the CDM - Cash Deposit Machine, it allows you to manually deposit more than what you owe.
Thus, effectively raising your credit limit

I've used that once for a large purchase (it was actually advised by MBB CS)

better to keep your miles.

Since the Treatpoints can last 3 years, you can stretch them by waiting till 3 years mark then convert.
Then the respective air miles have another 3 years like KrisFlyer miles, technically you can about 5yrs+ to use the miles.
