No, like I said“Hi David, please be informed that the points collection for education institution (local or overseas) will be the same. Thank you.” From Maybank |

QUOTE(Lego Warfare @ Jul 21 2018, 03:23 PM) Ohh that was recent. Online payment? OnlineCan’t think of any reason except merchant code for the gateway payment is not under education lol The merchant code will NOT be that used for Malaysian education establishment, as that is a local designation....it will show up simply as a foreign currency transaction overseas.... |

QUOTE(Lego Warfare @ Jul 21 2018, 04:47 PM) Merchant code is ISO standard, so it is international. Nothing to do with local designation... Two information will be captured.... merchant category....and currency/site of transaction.... obviously the currency/site of transaction trump's the merchant category....https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Merchant_category_code https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ISO_18245 The points will obviously be determined by how much money the bank makes from the transaction.... obviously, there is an arrangement with educational establishments in Malaysia for a lower transaction charge....and hence the bank decides to award only 1 point.... Maybank makes a lot of money from foreign currency transactions, with the exchange being about 2% over visa rates....so there will is no need to reduce points.... The "gst" value of Maybank treats points is 0.2sen....so 5 points means 1 sen "rebate"....ie 1% rebate from myr transaction value.... That hasn't taken into account the transaction fee visa and banks charge..... |

That means they also look at merchant code for point awarding system, not just currency/site transaction. No point arguing with me since this is from Maybank themselves. You can clarify with them. |

Me: I’ve read that there are people who are getting 5x points due to oversea/foreign transaction although for university fees?Does that mean as long as it is an overseas transaction with foreign currency you can still get 5x points? MBB: Yes, correct but it is also depending on the merchant code reading. There you go. 2 factors comes into play. |

Why do you all think Maybank decided to reduce some spendings to 1point from the previous 2/5?....if you can see why, you will understand how they have configured this exception.....

QUOTE(cybpsych @ Jul 22 2018, 08:10 PM) i am not aware you can see specific points awarded in m2u....you will only know the points after you view/download the statement....and even then, you wouldn't know which transaction got what points, just the total points you get, and the extra points if overseas/fc spends.... |
