Sorry noob question here. Can the treatpoints from Amex Card be combined with treatpoints from MasterCard for gift redemption? I just activated the cards. Haven't used yet.
Thanks in advance.

Yes can. They will even combine with your savings accounts' treatpoints.

Not sure how's the calculation for savings account but it is very little for my case. So you can ignore it.

I just saw this very confusing table on the first page.
http://www.maybank2u.com.my/WebBank/CVP-PlatCard.pdf

I don't know if I've understood this correctly. Maybank 2 MasterCard is not entitled to any treatpoints for Government, utilities, petrol, education and insurance?
The X and tick are mind-boggling rclxub.gif

Thank you very much for the detailed info notworthy.gif So we should spend on Maybank 2 American Express Card to earn treatpoints coz Maybank 2 MasterCard is basically a useless card.

Hi, has anyone ever encountered any problems using Maybank 2 Amex Card abroad? I used it to purchase an item from a merchant whose payment gateway was in London and the transaction was declined.

have you tried calling cs to unblock for online transaction?
*
I called Maybank before making the transaction but cs informed that I had to make the transaction first. They'd only assist me if transaction failed. So after the transaction was declined, I called them again and was put on hold for 10 minutes and got disconnected after that rclxub.gif

did you inform the bank beforehand that you will be using it overseas?
*
Yes, I informed the bank beforehand that I'll be making an overseas transaction and requested for them to unblock my card for the transaction but cs said there was no such procedure. He asked me to call only if the transaction failed.
Is that the standard procedure of Maybank?

I never had such problems with Citibank credit card. Every time before I travelled abroad, I called Citibank to inform them and I had no problem swiping the card overseas.

But Maybank procedure is different?

My experience says its accepted worldwide.  Hence up till today, I can swipe at abroad without having call to inform.
But wondering why its different in your case.

That's good to know. Maybe that was my first overseas transaction using that card and it was for a substantial amount. I'll call their cs again before I travel abroad in future.

It's accepted everywhere but make a habit to call banks before going to overseas. Else, after a few transactions, your card will be temporarily blocked and they have to call you for verification. Wasted more money due to roaming. I had this problem when I was in Japan, forgot to call and after second transaction went through, Maybank already called me.

So, I always encourage people to call before going to overseas. If in Singapore for few days, I won't bother. laugh.gif

To prevent fraud cases, Maybank has blocked online overseas gateway. Anyway, I don't need to call them to unblock for me.

Ooo thanks for the info. I'll be travelling to Japan soon. Will definitely call Maybank before departing.
