and also not dismissing this statement, "however do bare in mind that most portfolios will not be able to achieve this every single year. During bad years, you may be required to dip into capital."...which is also very realistic down to earth too. thumbsup.gif

QUOTE(xuzen @ Aug 10 2016, 02:48 PM)
I have been skimming my profits since early of Aug. I entered RM 30K in early June 2016, the fund has moved up by 9.XX% in less than two mths. So I figure I skim the profit lar.

Skim means I only take the profit but let the original amount remain because I believe India run has not ended just yet.

Why not let the profit run, some might ask. Well, the volatility is very high for India fund, I do not want to get caught off guard especially as the % in my portfolio keeps increasing. (High % holding in my portfolio, makes my portfolio volatility increase).

Xuzen

p/s After skimming I move it to RHB Asian Income for it has a much lower volatility compared to India (India has three times the volatility compared to RHB Asian Income UTF).
*
hmm.gif assuming your RM 30k is 10% of the portfolio...
profit 10% = 1% of portfolio

at 1% variance, I think does not make much changes to the volatility of the portfolio...

Hey, newbies here. All of you buy UT through fundsupermart.com.my ?
Want to ask for eg. CIMB Titan, will it be better if i buy with my CIMB savings account or buy through fundsupermart.com.my? Why ?
*
an immediate benefits is the sales charges difference, ease of portfolio viewing and analyzing thru FSM platform...

*
that is what we know of...
not sure if you can get lucky thru the banks.....try call them up to check the sales charges and then compare the one in FSM....if new a/c holders within 30 days (lagi jimat)....

not sure if you are referring to buying from the bank in person or buying from cimbclicks. Cimb clicks sales charge is comparable to FSM I believe.

However, FSM has a much better platform I feel, where you can read up on articles, have more funds for you to choose from. And a responsive online help as well

Would also recommend that instead of buying one single fund, if the amount is quite big, you should consider setting up a portfolio of funds and/or buy in batches to reduce the risk of buying at a high price

If 15k is all you plan to invest this year, suggest that you spread it over a few months, e.g. 5k this month, another 5k in October, and another 5k in December.

being fully invested is never a good idea unless:

1) you can forsee the future  biggrin.gif
or
2) you are able to stomach an ROI of -50%  bruce.gif
*
Yes.. point 1 is correct....therefore it can go both ways for point 2 too.
If do partial at 3 mths interval....after that also fully invested. Right?

what an apt timing! Only very recently KWSP's CEO Sharil allows KWSP-MIS to have participate into 100% foreign exposed UTF; it was 30% prior to this amendment.

I thought in end 2014, our PM called GLC to bring back monies and stopped overseas investment to support our economy....
now KWSP is doing the opposite......
hmm.gif could it be Bolehland got not more hope to keep on supporting (valuation higher than others), or they are expecting to get MYR gains thru overseas investment?

shortcut just follow FSM Recommended Portfolio.

or

Follow Recommended Funds. I normally focus my buying on when there is 1% offer...

after buying your one or 2 fund.. later you will get the hang of it...

then U will divide yr portfolio according to REGIONS... or Risk or whatever suits you.

https://www.fundsupermart.com.my/main/resea...tormaincode=All

As long as get started.. then you are on your JOURNEY to MAKING YOUR $$$ WORK HARDER FOR YOU!

hmm.gif a good point for deworsification?
cos you won't know when a FH may just get hit by a mine in its normal routine of fluctuation....

hmm.gif (if the investment value is not much to what one is having, then just picking one from the "filtered" one from the recommended fund is suffice......but if the amount is large, ....... hmm.gif )
