QUOTE(dadudeneverabides @ Mar 29 2016, 09:14 PM) Highly recommended for that class of grease. Tamiya grease/lube is designed for plastic-metal contacts. beside tamiya, which u recommend? might try to find tmrwQUOTE(ntw @ Mar 29 2016, 11:28 PM) This post has been edited by dannrawr: Mar 29 2016, 11:49 PM |

QUOTE(dannrawr @ Mar 29 2016, 07:06 PM) yup no dedicated arrow, need to use FN + wasd Cool. If I got all types of switches that I want I might get keyboards like these. There is a keyboard I seen that is tenkeyless, but you can still use the numpad with fn keys, the ten keys are mixed with the alphabet keys or something. I even saw a topre keyboard that doesn't have F1~F12.hmm, for me the K70 dont have standard bottom row if u want change keycaps I see.. I am not really into modding nor led lights though. Somehow I feel like I'm in the wrong section |

QUOTE(dannrawr @ Mar 29 2016, 11:48 PM) What is normally recommended is silicone grease (not heatsink thermal paste) which is also used to lube flashlight o-rings. Lelong has one or 2 sellers, or find some dielectric grease which are pure silicone grease.I just used vaseline which was more widely available which might corrode certain types of rubber but I'm not using o-rings. Hey guys, mkb noob here, recently one of my key/switch on my mkb broke down T_T
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « Broken key = [1/!] Switch = Cherry MX Red Keyboard = Random China brand bought from Taobao Age = ~1 year When it was half working I need to press really hard on the key to get the key working normally again, after a few weeks it's just dead. Any cheap way to DIY fix it? how much it cost to get the equipment for the DIY fix, any fellow forumer does fixing service? Or should i inevitably get a new MKB instead (prefer not to). Thanks all sifu This post has been edited by kyosukeX: Mar 30 2016, 01:26 PM |

Thanks all sifu Have you ever cleaned your mkb? if not maybe got some real nasty stuff stuck inside the switch, maybe you can try dilute some alcohol with water with certain ratio and drop a few drip via cotton bud onto the switch, i believe there's a video on Youtube showing how to do it. If not just hire someone to replace your switch. |

So i have a half assembled board sitting here for centuries so i figured it's time i get that shit done.
I just ordered the switches from taobao and I assume it will take 1-2 weeks to arrive. Anyone offering soldering service here? 87 switches + 87 leds + lubing/tuning stabs. I'll provide everything necessary except the lube. Please help a brother out and pm me your best rate! |

Hey guys, I want to try my hand at soldering (have a faulty Ducky keyboard with me a customer traded in for a LingYi keyboard + top up cash so I figured this would be a good learning experience)
It is using Cherry MX blues, I think I won't be able to swap the faulty keys with the less used keys since got at least 4 switches that are damn near unusable, so I'll need to find spare switches already. Can anyone advice/or if anyone here is selling a few unused switches? Kaihl works too, as long as it is Cherry compatible. Also this one is an LED keyboard, should I consider getting replacement LEDs or re-use them? Thanks! |

Also this one is an LED keyboard, should I consider getting replacement LEDs or re-use them? Thanks! At least 4 keys not registering? My recommendation is, best to get cherry mx's blue switch for better overall consistency with the other switches, unless you planning to replace all of them, then feel free to choose any switch you like. As for LED, it's better to replace them all, or at least the ones you have to remove to remove the switch, because to desolder factory made keyboards, you need very high temperature to melt the solder (about 350-400 degree). Very high chance the led might just kaput or you'll reduce the lifespan. When you solder LED, best practice is to solder one of it's leg first, then move on to other led first, this is to let the LED cool off first before soldering the other leg. Ideally you just need to use 2 seconds to solder one of the LED's leg. |
