Guys, i found out after done compound on 25/10, swirl marks still visible on my car boot. will check on my bonnet when i can.
what is the reason swirl mark still visible after done compound? was it not done correctly?
i use the two pail system but haven't get the grit guard, but i try not to stir too hard.

will consider to get grit guard from osren.  anyone know how much are theirs?
Meguair's cost around RM70 i feel is too expansive..
talking about pressure washer, i have a unit but too lazy to use it. is it recommended after i've done paste waxing? will the pressure washer somehow remove the wax because of the high pressure? lol

also i have trouble cleaning my MF cloth after buffing of the paste wax. any advise?
thanks!

I'm new in detailing too. But IMHO, after compound, you will need to polish with a finish foam pad to further enhance the paint.

I myself didn't get the grit guard, but found a cheaper way after reading gfwong Car Porch Detailer blog.

Car Porch Detailer

You have been to Osren? Do you know their pricing on the car shampoo?

Imho water beading is really a marketing gimmick.
It definitely is nice to see water beading on our paint.. but think of this.. when the water bead dries, it leaves impurities from the environment. Thats why we see water marks on our cars. Really ugly and irritating to maintain.
What we should really want is superb water sheeting abilities. That way no water is left on paint, hence no water mark and paint stays cleaner longer smile.gif
*
Yes bro, second on that. Sheeting is better than beading. But i still like beading so much. tongue.gif Hahaha. Btw, I'm on weekly maintenance and topup with spray wax as final layer. So it's fine for me to clean off the deposits easily.

Btw, talking about sheeting capabilities, which product do you recommend? Planning to do it on other car.

Thanks bro.

Actually my old shop we used to do that, but biz wasnt good cuz poor location and heavy price war, and capital run out dy, so closed down dy. Ppl always go fast and cheap, then end up come our shop to repair the swirls and other issues, hahaha...

For a typical detailing (assuming 2 persons in the shop doing), here are some estimates of time required for each step:

1. Wash, dry, vacuum - 1 hour
2. Clay - 1-2 hours
3. Masking - 1 hour
4. Compounding - 4 hours
5. Polishing - 4 hours
6. Waxing (2 layers) - 1-2 hours

Depending on the severity of paint defects, sometimes compounding along is 2 rounds, that's already 8 hours. Those using rotary and want to achieve swirl and haze free finish may require to polish with polish pad 1 round, finish pad 1 round. This is especially for black cars, since I've experienced before polish okay but wiping bring swirls back (cloth problem). So generally total including some break/rest time in between would come up to 2-3 days.

Btw I'm no sifu la, just that got do detailing biz hands-on before, so know the in and out of it, so just sharing experience like everyone else lor. smile.gif
*
Hi bro, i can feel you. I'm also doing free lance by just providing waxing package to my surrounding people.

Proper car wash est 1hr, clay depends on the paint condition, probably around 1-2hrs, wheel detailing around 1hr. Exterior alone also almost 4hrs gone.

People who appreciates your efforts will understand the reason behind why consume such long time. People who look for cheap and fast and good job, will just rant about why taking so long time. Hahaha...

Used wax already, but to now avail.

Strange thing is, the parts of the window where I used alot of the watermark remover, no problem at all. The middle part whereby I used a little, its like blurred massively.

Yesterday I used hot water to wipe, its slightly better. But its still damn ugly and affect vision.

I used on all my other cars before, dunno why like this.

How much does polishing cost ah?
*
Perhaps a picture would provide better view for sifu here to justify the reason? smile.gif

Ya, most of the time it's parked at outdoor from 8am-5pm. No tree,  just sun.
I will try clay bar first. On my white car, it did happens also. I have to use cleaner wax every week to remove the layer of dirt. So I thought what's is the cause of this. Only happens below the door handles and side mirrors.

Give a good cleaning and wax it. Next time cleaning will be easier.

You want less headache in selecting products or to be cost effective, head over to Osren HQ @Kepong. Ask Henry for suggestion, he will guide you what you should need to kick off take care / detailing your car.

Or if you are hardworking to do some reading and not hesitate to opt for well known / branded / proven products, digs more on the internet and you'll find yourself some good offer.

And as what Windskill said, please clay before you proceed to apply sealant / wax. Touch and feel the paint before and after, you'll appreciate why you are spending time do the clay.. cheers bro. Happy Cleaning and detail your ride..

I try work on small panel first, those DA polisher sound very loud, if do it at weekend dunno my neighbour will hit me or not zzzz

The black decker not so noice just feel the spinning speed not fast enough to do cutting
*
I went thru what you are at now. That BD will not even burn your paint, no worry. Polishing pad, I assume you are using the black pad? Very low cutting power and it does remove holograms. Swirl marks? Not really.. I gave the same panel a few passes, means repeat polishing the same panel for a few times, the swirl marks are still there, but holograms were removed. Cheers~

First question, do you guys think the rain water is very clean? Come on.. that's why you see the stains after rain. And some wax, they tend to be dust magnet too.. those edges, water runway, always the first impacted area.

so, you want to keep your car clean, no choice, you have to clean it frequently, especially after rain.

Cheers.

I always purchase thru Osren FB page only. Most likely Henry is replying you as admin. Browse their product from Osren homepage, and order thru FB. Though not like Meg's Direct.com, page admin will still replies you within few hours.

Sifu , finish the video, so in conclusion, top anything on the fusso will change the characteristics and the way coat behaviour, but what the true is fusso isnt a gloss coat, it is more to like water block

so if wanna get something more glossy, just can skip the fusso and looking for some shine wax

And sifu, the water bending is something just to show off or strong water bend will leave less water mark on surface?
*
Some correction, it's called Water beading bro, not bending. Water how to bend? biggrin.gif

You want good beading effect, Fusso is the one. But you also realised it dont provides gloss at all. Some detailers categorised it as a sealant rather than wax. That's why, Kiwami or other high gloss wax is recommended to pair with it to provides good protection, and shines at the same time.

Here, you already mentioned you top with the liquid wax on top of Fusso, how do you feel? What's your opinion about the durability of liquid wax? More or less it still behave and lasted as it should. But your fusso is still there as base coat for most protection.

For your last question, it's all up to personal views. Some may argue beading is just for show off. But thru the beading effect, you know when you should top up or reapply the sealant or protection.

But in real world, water sheeting actually better than beading. The beads formed on paint surface, though it looks nice, but water always contains minerals, or contaminants. Now, imagine it baked by the sunlight, what is the result? Surely you can guess what is the outcome. The watermarks...

Lol, brutal but true!

My preference is not so much about trying products, but collecting defects and see how to remove them when semangat strikes. Little scratches from lazy wash method, ppl door open hit my car, tar from road, small stone chips, water spots on windshield, etc. they are more satisfying when u managed to remove them and bring back the shine.

The only defect that I clear immediately are bird poop and tree sap, cuz from experience it can seep under the paint and cause rust to start from underneath and end up paint pop. That was a hard experience learnt.

My personal mantra: if paint screw up so bad already, respray lor. smile.gif
*
hahaha.. this is so true. I am actually collecting swirls and scratches so that I can do a ONE TIME TOTAL MAKEOVER for my ride. But after learning and applied the correct washing technique, my god.. 1 and half yr, my car still looks good when sitting side by side with other member's car who send it to car saloon or roadside car wash. I am so dem satisfy to look at my car.. brows.gif

Thanks! Will check out your recommendations 😄

Worth getting this package? RM108

[PACKAGE DEAL] Soft 99 GLACO Ultra Car Mirror Windshield Glass
Coating Agent 70ml + SOFT 99 Glaco Mirror Coat Zero ( Mirror Coat )
40ML + Glass Stain Cleaner 80ML
*
hmm.. speaking from my experience, Glaco doesn't last long. I helped my friend to do everything. It lasted around 5 months on windscreen wiper area. and other windows are fading now.. still got beading effect, but not as nice as after apply.

The Glass Stain Cleaner, not sure whether it can remove those tough and stubborn watermarks or not. Need to ask members who used it before.
I've gotten the soft99 glass compound Z which works the same as per told by the sales there, RM 40 1 bottle from Autobacs, it cleans the oil film, but not the watermarks. So far, I used the AntiRain watermark remover (can be search in Automotive sales thread), and Osren watermarks remover, I felt both works alot better.

Glass Coating, I'm using coating agent from AntiRain, 1 year and 4 months now. There coating still as good as first apply. No watermarks were formed. But, I have my ride a weekly or bi-weekly car wash. So, it might be my periodic car wash that reduce the chance to let watermarks form on the glass. thumbup.gif
