guys, currently i wash my car every 2-4week once.. previously i use shampoo but now i dont use anymore, normally i use microfibre cloth + water running from tap. . cause 2 bucket i am no good and always my clean water will have some dirt..
so far my washing method is ok, after it i will use turtle wax to wax my car maybe every 2 wash i wax for once..
The water beading is excellent for my glass, but for my car body such as bumper/door/hood/roof etc it seems sucks..
maybe it last for few day and i dont see the effect.. while for glass it last sometimes more than half year the water beading still there..

TLDR : turtle wax water beading on my glass is amazing, but other than glass is sucks..
any recommendation for budget? My car dont have much scratch, i just want the water beading like coating etc effect but i prefer diy and my budget is below 100.. haha

Just curious - not using any shampoo at all to wash the car?

Anyways, RM100 actually decent budget; assuming you're only requesting for product recommendations and that RM100 not being spent on additional items such as towels, applicators, sponges etc. Water beading effect, quite a lot of products out there within that RM100 budget - Soft99, Meguiar's, Osren, Mother's, Turtlewax. Do you prefer wax/paste/liquid/spray type application?
*
ya not using any, previously i use turtlewax brand, but the foam in bucket once i take out the foam gone..
So anyway my car is not oily, my purpose just clean the dust, so i normally run with low water pressure and use my cloth to clean it up.. surprisingly it has been 4 years, and compared to my another friend who own same car and earlier 1 year than me its almost same except he have more swirl mark . . i guess cleaning method different..

Actually paste is best? i tried paste turtlewax and also spray type.. spray i feel like water, not sure is effective or not as i keep applying everymonth..
I also use paste, the problem with paste if i dont clean clearly next few day i saw dust at the paste area haha..
i am using turtle wax, but i not sure my application is good enough or not, it seems dont last me long for my car metal/plastic part as the beading just a while..

Try soft99 fusso coat, only about rm40 in shopee.

I havent tried myself but The reviews are great, best bang for buck and durability is very long.

You are right on one thing - washing techniques/cleaning methods will be the key factor in determining how badly swirled a car may end up. Anyways, thank goodness there are many products out there and tutorials designed to help normal plebs like us to become good at DIY detailing too. brows.gif

I wouldn't conclude that paste/liquid/spray are better than another, although many old-timers swear by paste application in terms of their durability, but I can tell you, even paste/liquid wax [however light a coat is applied] may risk swirls on your surface if not done correctly [I know cos I myself learnt from experience  ranting.gif ]

Most importantly, you need to find a product that suits your needs best and ideally, leaves you the least work needed to get the results you want. Things like streaking, stains, watermarks, buffing trails etc - some products are very good based on reviews but when you use them, the end results doesn't look good.

Regarding your comment, do you do surface prep [claying etc] on your car's surface before applying wax?
*
Idk that swirl still can be saved? Lol except you polish it maybe?
I am using the paste type I guess.. There is hard paste and akdt paste? My type it's like your shampoo squeeze it out to your sponge..
Last time I mix it with water and spray it.. Seems not really good effect..
I only clay certain area such as door bottom.. The rest dint have rough surface so I just wash n wax

Bought fusso but dark type I not sure will it diff or marketing as soft 99 product always got light n dark version. Haha this week I try apply to my gf white myvi.. Since my dark car jz wax with turtle wax

used soft99 fusso wax dark version, on my gf white car.. apparently it beat my turtle wax on my own car in term of water repelling, but for the smooth, turtle wax is more smooth..
i not sure did i apply properly on the white car for the wax, as i first time use hard type wax...

aside, did you guys use this meta cleaner wax?
https://www.lazada.com.my/products/soft-99-...5-s1947836.html

this is actually polish? i not sure will it hurt the clear coat/ paint of the car or not.. as those stain and water mark, i easily remove it using this meta cleaner.. as the wording confuse me, it said liquid wax then said meta clean polish, wax is add layer protection, polish is remove protection..

No other option to remove those stain on white car, i used this..
my friend advise said he used before and his car become pale and start rust.. i not sure how true is it

Cool, thanks for sharing.

As for your findings, I would say meta cleaner is similar to polish. And most polishes can be called cleaner wax as well. Difference is just the name but it provides a similar result. Probably key difference is just the scent/pricing/abrasiveness?

Polish unlikely to cut through clear coat unless it was applied really haphazardly.

What product did your friend use on his ride, if you don't mind sharing?
*
He use on his old car myvi.. He use a couple of time then he suspect the product spoiled his paint

QUOTE(mcchin @ Mar 2 2020, 11:21 AM)
Soft99 white vs black series is marketed where black is less abrasive (if any) than the whites, as black paints shows swirls easier
says to never use whites product on black cars
meta clean is for certain times use
not for everytime use

I have used Fireball tar remover to get the black water stains before, but chemically.. not confident to long term use it
most light stains can be removed with applications of wax, since the flow is on the rubber lining area

this says that the black stain is dissolved rubber
and can be dissolved chemically with oil types such as wax
*
White is the silver tin like my link rite? But I found out those stain actually visible at area which is water flow such as door at side mirror area, door handle, number plate area..

QUOTE(V429 @ Mar 2 2020, 12:42 PM)
My understanding is that Soft99 meta clean is a all-in-one product. Unlike some polishing / compound liquid which have abrasives inside, this product cleans 'chemically' as it contains solvents inside. It also leaves behind a thin layer of wax as well. I think no problem to use this to clean off stubborn stains.

I have one, used it once or twice and had no problems with it.

Edit : as for your friend's case, ask him did he follow the instructions on how to use this product? I might be mistaken but Sounds like he used a lot and did not buff off completely.
*
Yes I read and feel same thing as you.. But further reading it seems its abrasive compound which also do polishing? I used the product like twice but the car is too dirty I haven't fully complete use.. Lol..
I not sure how he use.. But common we will apply it and once the stain come out we wipe it off with another cloth rite? I don't really see any buff.. I tried to find a proper way to use but I can't find...

Lately rain water is very dirty. Even after I wax my car, after rain my car will be covered with black layer, can even write on it.
My shampoo is not able to deep clean the black stuff, seems like it will eat into the wax at certain places,
Anyone can recommend how to take care of this?
Change wax?

Car is white color
Using soft 99 fussy wax which gives a very good water beading
*
White colour car hard to maintain.. Even wax also no use.. Need to rub very hard only come out..

Usually 1:10 is good starting point and adjust from there.
If the product you mentioned is IGL Blizzard, try 1:20, I've seen videos on it giving ridiculous thick foam.
*

If you see the desc mentioned 1:150 or 1:75 still quite crazy.. maybe try it when i have time..

Anyone face issue with foam not sticking on your car?
Bought some pressure washer and use igl foam

The foam is thick but it won't stay for long due to my car have wax and the foam jz like water will have beading effect..

Anyone use grit guard from Shopee? It cheaper not sure should I buy 2 guard for each bucket to avoid those dirt float back.. Usually I jz use 2 microfiber cloth 1 top 1 btm..soap n rinse with hose.. Sometimes lazy to go diff place wash then my condo thinking use 2 bucket method as there is no carwash bay

Try adjust the foam to be thicker? Or add more igl blizzard?
Im using the grit guard from admsolutions.

Im also living in condo, usually do rinseless wash with multiple mf cloths. Cant foam since it will flood other ppl's carpark..
*
Quite thick like shave foam ady.. Just that the whole foam will go down in maybe less than 1 min.. Then can see the beading effect..
Mean you use 2 pail?

1 pail with rinseless, mf dip n wipe until all dirty then change another mf. No need to redip but cons is u have to use alot of mf
*
Lol how many mf you use? I guess it's quite alot since you might need to wipe 2 time layer at least for each panel?

I have grit guards but instead of using 2 bucket method, i just use 5 or more wash mitts, one mitt for each panel to be safe
*
1 grit guard with 1 bucket? no recycling the mitt?

QUOTE(sonotme @ Apr 17 2024, 12:18 PM)
5 at least.. but only if its light dust. Cons is my mf gets black quite quickly. Tried washing it with carpro but my mf still turns black
*
my mf also always dark fast.. how wash also cant become clean.. no care i just continue use it haha

i dont really use the grit guards anymore, yes i avoid reusing the mitts in one wash.

i'm too lazy to fill 2 buckets and squeeze the mitts multiple times
*
Any reason for not using grit?

What car wash shampoo do you guys use?

Looking for a cheaper option. Been using Koch Chemie GsF RM100, 50ml each time into foam cannon. Average RM5 per wash

Ok done water spot remover using rhino above with the final car. Truly saves a lot of time instead of polishing but noticed it kills of ceramic spray coated vs graphene spray coated. So a gentle reminder to reapply ceramic or graphene spray that you guys have once done.
*
Any graphene spray is recommended?

Currently I am using fusso wax.. Imo better than TW which I used..
Thinking to change the product.. Since fusso wax is the hard type abit difficult to applies and hard to make it spread even as paste or liquid type..

Recently purchased the soft 99 creamy shampoo n wax (orange packing) not sure if it's good.. Cause put it on your damp sponge and wipe to car then rinse.. Nor sure effective or not haha..

Any suggestion cleaning/maintainance for alcantara? I assuming it should be similar as fabric?
For plastic / leather etc I guess those product like perl (carpro) or meguilar Quik Interior should be good?
