Hello guys. First of all I must thank you all as I have slowly learn about car detailing by slowly reading thru what you guys have shared in this thread. I have some questions that I hope you guys can help share your knowledge about :

1)I currently use Mothers cleaner wax (recommended to me, a total newbie at that time, by a kind random stranger at Summit ACE Hardware). I observed that the wax deteriorates quite fast, about 1.5 week later the slickness is almost gone (I park my car outside all day every day unfortunately). I wonder is this because Cleaner wax are in general more thinner & less durable than pure wax? Does this mean I should apply another layer of pure wax on top of cleaner wax?

2)I plan to start claying my car in the future but unsure what to use as lube. Is diluted wash & wax shampoo sufficient? I have Meguiars quick detailer but not too keen to use it as lube.

3)Read from some of your posts that Carpro PERL is recommend to protect car plastic, rubber trims, etc. Just wondering are there any other recommended products to protect plastic & rubber? (focus on protection, shine is just bonus for me), or so far Carpro PERL is the best for this purpose?

4) Watched one of AMMO NYC's video and was surprised to learn plastic panel when exposed to sun may release oil & stick on inner windscreen (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4WEQItBaEfY skip to to about 40 minutes). Just wondering anyone noticed this in their cars before? So means I should get a separate glass cleaner to tackle this problem? Also wondering is such products suitable for window tint?

As always, thank you guys for sharing smile.gif

My answer to some of your questions:

1) cleaner wax is generally less used for protection purposes and more used for cleaning purposes. Perhaps it would be better for u to get a synthetic wax such as fusso coat for durability, since u do park your car outside all day every day.

2) claying shouldnt be taken as a regular activity, as usually ppl clay to remove contaminants that cant be washed off prior to polishing. Also, Meguiars Quik Detailer isnt the most cost effective option as clay lube, u may be better off trying out using ONR as your clay lube instead. Whether to use a wash shampoo as clay lube depends on your claybar, as I have seen some claybar doesnt work well with wash shampoos as clay lube.

3) Carpro PERL is commonly recommended because it is dilutable, therefore making it highly cost effective. If u are not going to be the type to apply trim and plastic protectant frequently, then even Meguiars Protectant can work just fine.

4) Hmm, I have a mixed understanding on this. While there could be some possibility regarding the release of oils from exposed plastics, there are also other factors such as the air in the car while driving, as well as if u use any perfume scents in your car. With that said however, I dont think his method is necessary if u just regularly wipe down all your windows with a damp microfiber towel during each of your car wash session. The glass cleaner would only become necessary after long periods of no wiping down interior glass. Glass cleaner doesnt affect window tint, however please dont use that rough sponge he used for scrubbing the glass, as that sponge would almost certainly scratch your tinting.

Hope this helps.

1) Noted on your recommendation. Wonder can I layer synthetic wax together with cleaner wax or need to wipe off cleaner wax before applying it? hmm.gif But for now i probably will try cleaner wax + spray wax combo first since I just got my spray wax, then only get pure wax in future. I think I also read before that Fusso coat dont work well with spray wax or something like that? Maybe I misunderstood. hmm.gif

3) Just curious about how do you guys use Carpro PERL for different purposes (read that different dilution ratio for different use)? Do you guys have like multiple spray bottles with different dilution ratio? Or only mix them when needed?

Again, thanks for taking the time to answer my questions.

cleaner wax is more for cleaning purposes. whereas dedicated wax is a wax dedicated to shine and protect.

if you are using clay cloth or synthetic type of clay, i recommend shampoo. if clay bar, use onr diluted or quick detailer.

plastic and rubber you can use any oil or water based type gloss enhancer. oil would last longer but would stain. water wouldnt stain that bad but wouldn't last. this is my understanding based on product formulation. i usually use oil type like meguiars endurance, but will buff excess with a dry m/f. it helps to prevent black streaks.

Noted. I suppose I will have to compare pro & con of oil based and water based plastic & rubber protect products hmm.gif Anyhow, thanks for sharing smile.gif

The recommendation is always to apply the stronger and more durable protection such as synthetic wax or sealant as base protection, then weaker protection like carnauba wax or spray wax as top sacrificial layer. The base protection grips on the paint longer, and u just need to topup with weaker protection regularly.

For Carpro Perl, I only have 1 dilution mixed and i use that for all surfaces. No sense having many bottles of the same product in different dilution when the base priority is just protection. Thats my 2 sen. smile.gif

Noted. Again, thanks for sharing biggrin.gif

I see.. Do you store your Carpro PERL in normal spray bottle or those spray bottle that are "Chemical resistant"? (as displayed in Osren's website).
Also where do you guys get your Carpro products usually? Do they have official store in Lazada or something? Or straight buy from their website?

Just to share : Just bought and started using Meguiars gold class quik wax today. Funny thing is that after I buff it off still got streak marks. I tried to spray summore & buff again but it's still there. Weird thing is that this is only appear in my car hood, other panels seems fine. hmm.gif I even pick this over Normal Meguiars quik wax coz I read in gfwong's blog that he noticed it is less likely to streak on dark coloured cars.

Good afternoon guys. Mind if I ask where to buy Soft99 Fusso coat? I try search around Shopee, Lazada and forum here, the price is all over the place from around RM40 to RM80.

Any trusted seller to recommend please?

I'm thinking to purchase Meguiar's , but i'm not sure where to start ...compound , polish , wax ???? Any starter pack & advice ????

I suppose that depends on what you need to do with your car. Basically there are 3 type of things :

1.Clean your car - just wash off dust and dirt from your car. Which basically just need decent car shampoo and wash mitt / microfiber towel. Also check out the 2 wash bucket method.

2.Polish your car - this step is needed if your car has scratches and swirl marks. This one you can ask the Sifu here for more info as I am inexperienced in this.

3.Wax your car - put a layer of wax / sealant to protect your car's paint.

As Smurfs mentioned, YouTube has a lot of videos you can learn / get an idea of how to care for your car.

Also if you want more affordable car care products you can check out Osren products (you can Google their website).

Can wax or sealant protect swirl marks or scratches? It suppose to be a layer of proctetion right?
*
Usually they fix paint defects such as swirl marks & scratches by compounding and/or polishing before they put a layer of wax / sealant.

But I suppose if the defects are minor and you don't mind it you can just put a layer of wax / sealant on top of it.

One thing to keep in mind is that wax / sealant are temporary sacrificial layer of protection only. So means if your paint defects are serious (such as rock chips that expose car's bare metal), wax and sealants aren't going to help much.

Just my opinion. Sifus feel free to correct me if I am mistaken.

can i ask wax cleaner AKA AIO.. is this consider polish? how often can it be used?
*
Cleaner wax is wax with very light polishing ability and is safe for clear coat as the amount of clear coat polished off is negligible.

Though the polishing ability is very very minimal and the wax is not very durable in my experience. It is more for all on one convenience I suppose.

Ok after i applied sealant on the car, and after the first car wash the car is not that shine from first time when just applied sealant. Should i add a layer of quick wax or quick shine detailer?
*
Maybe you can reapply the sealant? I learn here that you can also spray a layer of quick wax to 'top-up' if reapplying the sealant is too time consuming. Not sure about detailer though.

Any quick wax to introduce?

You can also check out the this blog for some suggestions : http://carporchdetailer.blogspot.com/2016/...ay-wax.html?m=1

I use Meguiars gold class quik wax (Coz the blog says it streaks less on dark cars). Works well enough, the wax lasts about 1 week before it's gone (not slick anymore). However it does sometimes cause streak marks. Not sure why, maybe my application technique problem.

Nice! Pls give us a quick review after you use it more! As someone with no power tools I am quite interest in this product too. Haha.

May I ask Is the YouTube channel yours? I saw another video in the channel you are using Soft99 Fusso coat? May I ask in your experience how long can it last on your car? Is your car parked under hot sun or under roof?

Thanks #Victor and Ikoky for sharing.

I guess maybe Fusso coat is not as durable as I hoped. Maybe time to look at FK1000p..

I think the foamer is good in some places like cleaning wheel arches. Can spray it with foam before brushing.

is that like the pump ppl use for insecticide, etc?
Can share link to purchase??

A quick search shows that the one Ikoky bought is "IK foam" which is designed to spray foam (and not liquid). "IK multi" however is designed to spray liquid.

I think you can buy IK foam from Osren. Maybe you can drop them an email to ask.

Thanks, have you tried the product before? Is it effective?
I found Lazada is selling RM98 for 1 Litre... still thinking to invest on it or not.
I wash my car 1-2 weeks once.
Recently start seeing water mark on the car (must be due to always rains these few days)
After washing and drying, the marks are still there.
How do you guys avoid water marks other than washing regularly? Does wax frequently will help?
My friend ask me always wipe the car after rainingĀ  rclxub.gif

Are you driving a white car? Maybe those are dark lines (caused by grime and dirt) instead of water mark (caused by minerals from dried water etched into car surface)?

Hello guys, mind if I ask before apply new wax or sealant, how do you all usually clean off old wax/sealant or polishing oil and all those stuff?

I know IPA can remove them.. So means you have to wipe the whole car with IPA with microfiber towel?

I was also wondering if diluted dish soap can get the job done as well as IPA?

70/30 or you could check out forensic detailing channel for other opinion. It's always easier and convenient to use carpro eraser or similar products to prep the surface for wax, coating.

Thanks for the advice. I did consider reputable brand products for this task. But the price is a bit on the high side for me. So looking for more affordable alternatives for now.

V429 Agree on the above...it all depends how much perfection you want...there is no right or wrong, it depends on individual, if we are tight on budget, just go with dishwasher...which I had been doing for ages.

Only recently, (ada duit sikit la), so spend on Tar remover...I just dont like IPA....

http://osren.com/product/solutions/all/tar-spots-remover

just my 23 cents  biggrin.gif

Haha.. Thanks Veejay. It's good to know I have options. I tot about getting some Osren solutions too, but their products a bit too much in a package so I cannot try small volume product before committing to get their bulk products. Scare buy bulk products but end up not working for me but still have so much of it to finish.

Lol, welcome to the club! I think many of us over the years of detailing may have bought, tried, didnt like it or it didnt work as hoped, then kept it until too old and eventually donated or threw stuff away. Guess its all part and parcel of learning what works for u and what doesnt.
*
Thank you! Very much agree that it's all part of the learning process, though I still try my best to research in order to get most value for money (due to limited budget) haha..

Happy to say that It has been quite an enjoyable experience so far.
