What's the cost to respray on such small surface ?
*
About 50 to a 100 for touching up. Unless the paint used is from the same supplier protong has, try to minimise the area that will be fixed, otherwise you might end up with a noticeable colour difference. I had my Persona's rear bumper touched up at one point where they re-sprayed quite a huge portion to "reduce the colour difference" and I didn't like it one bit because it was noticeably lighter than the rest of the car.

Our methods may vary but the fundamentals are of the same. Basically practice 2 bucket with grit guard wash to prevent as little swirls as possible.

Removing stain from the bonnet can be done easily with light polish based on your pic. White car...memang like that. stains and dirts are easily noticeable.

Rainx does not remove watermark. It merely lay a hydrophobic layer to repel water.
You will need to polish it. you can either find a dedicated window polisher (cerium oxide based) or whack with meguairs ultimate compound.

thanks for your reply.
been searching up youtube video (on polish & waxing) and Meguiar's products (maybe due to their marketing and can get from Parkson)

i think my car need
1) clay bar
2) compound
3) polish
4) wax

i have few questions hope the sifus will help me..

1) for clay bar what lubricant should i use? Meguiar's ultimate quick detailer is quite pricey. is it ok to use just soap water?
2) compound & polish can be done by hand? or DA tools is best?
3) if DA tools is needed, can i use Meguiar´s G3500INT DA Power System on a normal SKIL hand drill? the normal drill only has 1 speed. its that ok?
4) waxing is ok to apply by hand right?
5) for the application pad, can just use normal pad? MG's pad are so expansive.
or im thinking to get the Meguiar's G3501INT DA Compound Power Pack
6) if i have not done any of the above, and use Meguiar's ultimate wash & wax, i won't be able to get the wax effect after the car wash right?
7) if i have done the above and use ultimate wash & wax, do i still need to apply ultimate quick wax after each wash?

I have Isuzu MU-X SUV Silver, 10 months old,

everytime washed and wiped it dry, it looks clean like new, then I plan to wax it, but.....

now I notice car paint surface has watermarks, not very noticeable unless u really look at it at some angle, not smooth if u touch it

how do i clean that? must use detailing clay?

also have some nasty watermark on my windshield and windows, got a bottle cleaner for that which is working, but only for glass surface, not plastic or paint

im not that kind of guy can go that so professional car detailing, just want to often to keep my car clean, wash , and wax it once a while normally,(don't have to be perfect super shiny clean and zero dirt)

but now saw watermarks on paint, i can not wax it unless i remove it unsure.gif

I hate to see my car has watermarks dry.gif

Not really a sifu (just started myself) but tested the items you have described.

1) I used carshampoo + water. Dip the clay bar into it. Take note, there's different types of clay bars. Some are harsher.
2) For compounding, I recommend the DA tool (A DA Polisher would be best).
3) You have to use a corded drill, otherwise you wont get the desired results (Dont worry, I was worried about the speed as well. It wont dent much). DA Polishers go above 3800 RPM.
4) Waxing, you definitely can do it by hand (not much pressure is required! just swipe on, (cure), wipe off)
5) Any Waxing Pads would suffice
- MG DA Power Tool pads are definitely expensive
- If you're planning for Meguiars, get straight from MeguiarsDirect.com.my or lookout for Lazada discount codes smile.gif
- Sometimes getting Meguiars off Amazon is cheaper than both local (even + shipping).
6) If you're going for compound + polish + waxing, buy the Meguiars Gold Class Shampoo (everyone highly recommends this)
- If you've send your car for professional detailing, use the Ultimate Wash & Wax to retain that wet look.
- Otherwise, car shampoo + Ultimate Quick Wax
7) Why not? no harm topping up wax (Infact, I do that for my every wash).

Just to add on some comments..
Clay. Only clay when you feel surface is not smooth or there are visible contaminants.. don't clay just for the sake of claying tongue.gif. It does microscopically abrade the surface. Use finest clay if your car is black. Can use car shampoo diluted, but make sure it has good lubricity.
4. Waxing by hand. Yes definitely.. Its faster.
6. The UWW doesn't really add much wax effect. imho do not buy a car shampoo for the wax claims, its just an added bonus if it does add any.
7. Not needed.. but recommended smile.gif. You'll find maintenance to be much easier as the dirt won't stick to the car so easily and is easily washed off. UQW is expensive though, if used it after every wash. Might want to consider the xpress wax (supposedly same as UQW, but its not really 100% same.. more like slightly watered down UQW and smell is different) as its cheaper and does the job as well. Actually i find that dust doesn't stick so much for the xpress wax compared to UQW.

Yeah i would say try claying first (both the windscreen and paint).. its the least abrasive
To avoid water marks you need to really keep up with the maintenance, especially in our tropical weather.
A wax/sacrificial layer is needed to prevent the mineral/acid/other deposits from etching into the clear coat.
Can wax over it.. just depends on how anal one is smile.gif
To remove the water marks will require quite a bit of effort if its etched in... what you're actually doing is leveling the surface.

1) soap water fine. I myself have been using clay cloth with just water. clay bar takes too long. if it is extra dirty, i'll just foam my entire car and clay it.
2) some products can be worked by hand. best result is still machine.
3) boleh. get the meguiars g35000 will do.
4) boleh. you might wanna look at spray wax too, faster. spray wipe and buff. i recommend carpro/fireball spray wax. others will work as well
5) spray wax can use microfiber clothes!
6) wash and wax shampoo basically means shampoo have shine enhancer. not possible to wash and apply wax at once.
7) optional. i usually just spray wax every month or so. clay around every 2 months cause surface would have been embedded with stubborn dirts.

noted thanks guys for your helpful advise.

i have corded drill.
http://www.11street.my seem to have some good discount on MG's products atm.. so im shopping there..
but i already bought UWW from parkson last time.. so will just finish it up before move to other shampoo..~~

i think for starter i wont get the DA tools first.. its costly and i just starting..
1) how fast do you guys use up your clay bar?
2) also can clay bar be use on wind screen which has water mark?
i just bought this 3M clay bar 200gm. do u think it is good?
3) is there any curing time needed after apply compound & polish ?
4) is it recommended to do session by session of 2' x 2' instead of whole car at once?
5) for waxing final step, is it better to use paste wax instead of spray wax? i'd guess paste wax will last longer ?

will order this week days and hopefully can start work this weekend. can't wait!

I'm also using the UWW. Pretty good lubricity. The gold class shampoo is also good.. some prefer that over UWW.

1. Mine's been over a year for 1 bar. Break it up to 3-4 pieces.. don't use the whole bar at once.
2. Yes.. try that first. No idea as i've not used. I use the permaglass clay.. its around the same price point.. works fine.
3. No. Compound and polish are to be worked with when wet.. not left to dry. Only for wax/equivalent is curing recommended.
4. Yes for compound and polish. Wax/equivalent.. do the whole car.
5. Yes, paste/liquid is much more durable than spray. Spray is much faster.. so its a trade off. If you combine both, ie. wax monthly and spray weekly it is much easier to maintain. I rarely need to clay following this routine and when i do it doesn't take much time. To each their own i guess.

Do get lots of soft microfiber cloths.

It depends on the type of rims you have. Be sure to read the label properly if you are using specific rim cleaning products. Some are quite aggressive and can damage the appearance when paired wrongly.
I use a sponge wrapped with microfiber cloth and normal car shampoo for my wheels (painted) and occassionally a degreaser. I also use spray wax on the rims after every wash.. so dirt is easily washed off. If your wheels are painted i would suggest not to use a brush as it will scratch the surface.

The issue your facing with your tyre is due to using non water based dressing. Those cause a mess and can be quite difficult to get off. I use those normal rm10 or so water based wheel dressings.. it easily washes off with car shampoo and microfiber cloth. This way you can clean your tyre properly every wash instead of just slapping on more of that greasy dressing when your tyres are not clean.

Watch this if you're into the details..

Which superb product in the market allow us to restore plastic ?

White is unfortunately, not the best color to show off.. fact is the darker the color, the more 'shine' there is.. I mean - you very seldom see a show car in white..
But of cos, it don't stop us from getting the best off that color .. tongue.gif

Yap so true. Even my wife mention that it hard to see white car shine like our car, make all my effort feel so satisfactory. It being so nice when park below the LED streetlight and see the reflections at night.

thought i'd share something which i've tried last weekend.

i bought a bottle of 1 litre Osren Radiant Block liquid wax 2 years back which i just can't seem to finish. the idea of making a liquid spray wax crossed my mind, so i gave it a try. i mixed 1 part of the liquid wax to 10 parts of distilled water into a spray bottle and surprisingly it is miscible.

washed my car and sprayed the liquid spray wax that i've just made onto a wet car. then proceed to dry the car as usual. gives that just waxed gloss as well as slickness. sprayed water again to do a beading test and the car beads water as though i've just waxed the car rclxms.gif rclxms.gif rclxms.gif

although i doubt it'll last as long as a proper wax job, but i see this as a good maintenance step after every car wash to give it abit of a boost.

RM70 for 100litres worth of liquid spray wax, i doubt we can find any commercial product out there at such a price point.

happy detailing!
