Ah... unless in the future if I were to do my own coating, then I can polish it before applying those coating on?

Polycarbonate car headlight comes with factory UV resistant coating. You might remove the coating unintentionally when you are polishing the car hood if you don't tape it.

I see some cars has hazy headlight over the edges of the headlight. This suggest the coating was removed when polishing the car hood.

which air gun are you using hehe
*
Not using spray gun coz don't have enclosed area. Spray gun mist is a lot finer which it can't really stand the light windy condition. Need to clean up the mess now. It's all wet.

Envy you...its been more than 2 years since i stopped working on painting my car as well..sold it already (old Kia Optima)...new cars  dare not sendiri paint...hahaha

its really fun though , learn thru alot as well, and patching as well. Do you do patch work as well using filler and fiber glass mat? Thats fun as well, especially the hardener  and curing.

But those are fast drying, hope the rain didnt mess it up, else need to re-sand it. Do you also use clear coat to finish it?

PS: maybe its good to get awning for the front porch.
*
Yes I do use 2 types of filler. For deeper cut I first use filler+harderner, then follow with fast drying extra fine filler. It takes 2 mins for the extra fine filler to dry up and allow to sand very lightly.

I never use fibre mesh and fibre glass mat when I found it's selling extremely expensive in ace hardware. However, I did mix filler with fibre glass (straw type) previously when fixing the extremely easily crack fibreglass bumper years ago. The paintshop use steel plate to hold the cracked fibreglass bumper together but it cracks whenever a very light hit. I end up DIY with fibreglass straw and it never crack until today.

Yes a 2K clear coat is must. I'm finishing the hood and bumper with 2k clear coat now. Need to fight the rain and bugs while waiting it to dry up.

Hi all, besides ace hardware, where can i find some good and affordable spray wax? I only found turtle ice spray wax and meguiars ultimate quik wax. Im surprised that turtle ice spray wax is much more expensive than the meguiars.. any other spray wax can recommend for high gloss finish and long durability ( say 1-2 month ) ?
*
I don't think there is any easy on/off spray wax that would last for a month or 2 unless you keep your car in garage away from sunlight and rain.

Any recommended product to clean matte black wheels?

So far i just use water. Doesnt seem to clean well, the black looks a little brownish now. Is regular car shampoo alright?

If possible, I also wanna give it a bit of shine. Some say it's ok to just apply some tyre shine on it, but some say it's gonna peel off the paint.

Any suggestions?
*
Only way to give it shine is 2k clear coat it.

Speaking of water beading, this is what a rm10 China wax bought from brothers could give you, and it beads bug as well.

Sigh, just noticed this damage on my bumper (while washing it felt rough). Its not obvious as it is on the bottom side, but I wanna touch it up. Any tips? biggrin.gif gonna get the ezy touch up paint, i need to sand it a little after i paint it right? Cause it is showing the base black color of the bumper already.

I think I kinda scuffed it when driving down those multi storey car park probably =/. Only on the left side sigh...

Don't go for the ezy touch up paint. I would rather call it mess up touch-up paint.

just dry sand with 800 then wet sand with 800 grit sand paper. Use filler if you have the skill. Buy a color matching spray paint, and a 2k clear coat spray paint. You will need to buy a premixed clearcoat with reducer if you want it to look 99.9% like never touch up. spray the new and old paint adjecent part with premixed clearcoat. Anyway, since it is bottom you might as well skip the premixed clearcoat.

Thanks for the tips! On the side note... damn sad at the moment ._. So unlucky I scratched my bumper this morning when driving out T_T. Walaoweh ytd found this below (no big deal...) now got scratches on the bumper cause of my mistake tsk...

And I ordered ezy touch up paint... I'll experience with the bottom part first =/.

If I don't use filler, means I need to paint until it fills up the gap right?

Side note, where can I get these spray paint? Any reliable source to get them from?
*
Well no paint can fill up scratches even a light one. You will need filler to do the job but filling up scratches is not easy job. It needs a lot of patience and skill. Another easier way is to sand down the scratches until it smooth to touch (yes you will need to sand it until bare surface).

As for paint colour, look for aikka. I get mine from seri kembangan. They sell color matching spray paint in a can. What I do is I will remove the fuel cap cover for color matching purpose. As for 2K clear coat, I always use samurai 2K clear. When come to clearcoat with reducer, I'm not sure if anyone selling clearcoat with reducer locally but I get mine from China. Clearcoat with reducer is good if you are doing spot repair.

Edit: The picture shows the area which has been sanded down and patching and feathering for 3 times and still not ready for painting . It took me about 6th correction to get it 100% smooth.

Is this the product you referring to? https://www.3m.com/3M/en_US/company-us/all-...=8711351&rt=rud

Hmm, need to hunt from Ace Hardware perhaps... do you by any chance know how much does it cost?
*
Think I bought it for 40+ at bukit jelutong ace hardware years ago. I don't get from Ace Hardware anymore due to cut throat price. I get mine from China these days.

I was looking around Taobao and saw this when I searched for "3M Bondo".

https://item.taobao.com/item.htm?spm=a230r....ucket=17#detail

Comes in a kit, same product?

You won't need filler if you are using touch up brush. I would also avoid sanding the surface if using touch up brush. Try to check YouTube channel ammo NYC. They have few video showing the proper way to use touch up brush paint.

Have not seen or heard of fake Soft99 products, so unable to advise, sorry.

In any case this is a rather niche market, so not sure if ppl are interested to pirate detailing products unless its easy to do so (such as 3M claybar and many brands polishing pads). So far havent seen creams/liquids/paste products that get pirated, maybe just similar/same formula but relabeled different brand name.
*
Yes there are liquid that people do "pirate" them. I bought a set of 3M polisher at rm 30 just to test it out. The rubbing compound could not smooth out a 2000 wet sanding even at 3 stages buff. Lol.

Guys, I suddenly tot of an funny idea regarding waxing the car with Fusso coat.

After reading thru past opinions about Fusso coat, generally it is praised for it's water beading ability & durability but has the disadvantage of attracting comparatively more dust and watermark.

So my idea is that why not wax vertical panels (such as doors and bumper) with Fusso coat and then wax horizontal panels (such as car roof and hood) with another wax/sealant that attracts less watermark?

I was thinking maybe this may reduce watermark on fusso coat as water less likely to sit and dry on vertical panels. But dust might still be a problem maybe.

Another possible downside to this is that visually the car may look.. Strange due to different shine due to different wax/sealant on different panels.

so far I have not heard people using different wax/sealants on different part of the car, only layering different wax and sealants.

So what do you guys think? Or anyone tried it before already? smile.gif
*
The problem with fusso coat type of wax is they are not heat friendly. This type of wax tend to melt and blend together with fine dust under heat. You will need to apply cleaner wax from time to time depending on how wellyou 'stored' your car.

Anyway I'm testing a liquid base sealant which require no buff. Just spray and wipe off. Water beading result is as good as fusso coat. Durability wise still under monitoring. Water beading still at 80% effectiveness after first wash and it does not attract fine dust like fusso coat.

I see.. I think I might have missed out this melting under heat weakness of Fusso coat during my readings. If this is true then I probably will go for FK1000p instead of Fusso coat since unfortunately my car is parked outdoors almost all the time  sad.gif

Those are interesting looking spray sealants, never seen them before. I hope they are good.  smile.gif
*
Well they seems good after 2 weeks usage (second wash). Need more time to confirm with the durability. I ordered it from China. They call it glass coating. Funny part is they mentioned something about breaking down glass into nano fine in the description. Anyway I think they meant to say silica though. Whocare about the description as long as it is cheap and effective.

Need advise, recently my house was doing repaint and today I noticed this stain. It’s at the edge area which makes me hard to polish... how can I reduce it? It’s a weather bond paint 🤦‍♂️

UPDATE: Tried IPA, didn't work... tried water, didn't work either... then decided to give tar remove a try... it softened! Phew... too dark to see if completely removed or not but can't feel it anymore.

Use turpentine 叻水. Avoid thinner as it could remove soft paint easily.

So, I sent my car to respray my front bumper other day then saw this drip of paint on the back. Googled online recommended to use fingernail, managed to removed the color but under light can see this shape appeared, clear coat from the paint? 😓 I haven’t use machine yet. user posted image

Just use turpintine. Your 2k clear coat will be safe from it while the color base paint can be easily removed by turpintine.
