Hey guys, what's a super simple car care method? Is it okay if I just: Wash > Polish (once in awhile, but may use to remove tougher stains) > Spray wax.

Soft99 products for steps above:
1. Car wash creamy shampoo
2. Luster cleaner and polish
3. Luxury gloss liquid type wax
*
Wash as often as you can, try not to allow stains to stay too long on the paint, or else it can be imprint into your clear coat, polish only when needed (deep scratch or like you said stubborn dirt).

I try to wash at least once every two weeks. Is it better to get the soft99 version wash n wax car shampoo? I'm planning to use spray wax (after wash and polish) for simplicity but if I'm not wrong I don't need to spray wax everytime I wash, e.g. only once a month maybe, so next wash I just use the shampoo will do. Will the two waxes interfere each other?
*
Personally I had tried turtle wax's wash and wax shampoo, the result wasn't as good as spraying wax separately (barely have any water repellant effect). So in the end I just stick to PH neutral shampoo that doesn't contain wax.

I will spray wax my car once every 2 washes, usually its just 2 sprays for each panel.

What spray wax do you use? Your car usually parked under shade? My list was all soft99 but not sure if it's somewhat decent. I just know their luster and meta-clean are pretty good polishes.

I used soft99 12 months every year then top up with IGL enhancer after every 2 washes, usually I parked under shade. For polish I used Osren's

I think they didn't even mention a recoat, think didn't clearly answer my question during the maintenance, they just say will check and if any areas need improvement they just do some touch up. It's not free, it's RM 150 per maintenance, I believe those who mentioned free are those who will argue with them on the condition of the coating which probably Ceramic Pro agreed to maintain it for free.
Yes they clearly mentioned on the hydrophobic wearing off, and quickly clarified that don't trust car wash shop when they tell you without hydrophobic means no coating. I guess they faced many backlash from customer claiming that hydrophobic gone and complained about it, what's astonishing was them telling me that if that happened, I need to bring the car back and pay RM 150 for maintenance, despite their website clearly mentioned it's under warranty.
*
Just an update, I recently sent my car to Ceramic Pro for maintenance, no charges required. Not too sure why they are charging you RM150 for.

Hi all, I will be getting the new civic rs grey soon. Need advice on maintaining the car - was looking into perhaps doing ppf, coating or any other methods available.
budget wise don't mind spending RM 5k to 7k ish as long as it's worth the price. can wash car on a weekly if not biweekly basis. will be parked under the sun at home, at office will be sheltered around 3 times a week.
not sure what other information you need, just let me know. thanks.

If you are thinking of protecting your paint from rock chips, PPF would be good, but advisable to go for reputable brands like XPEL, you wouldn't want the PPF leave glue residue when you remove your old PPF when changing it.

Since you are parking outdoor, I wouldn't suggest ceramic coating, as they are really prone to leave watermarks/spots when water residue not removed promptly. With grey color, the watermarks and spots will be very noticeable.

I think simple wax would be suitable in your case, wash weekly and top up with spray wax whenever necessary would do.

Always wondered about this. How prompt do you need to be? Same day wash, or can you just leave it if you wash the car once every 7-10 days? I used to think ceramic coatings would mean you’d need to spend less time/effort keeping yoir car’s exterior clean, but everything I’ve read seems to suggest the opposite.
*
I don't park outdoors all the time, only during weekends and only when i needed to. I only able to wash every week, even so I still get some water spots, but due to my car color is white water spots won't be very obvious, only parts that are in black are obvious.

Ceramic coating will make your cleaning easier due to its sleek surface, but you still will need to keep it clean as much as you can. I feel the biggest advantage of ceramic coating is it could give longer period of sleek look (provided you clean it often)

thanks, appreciate the reply. this wax that you are talking about, it can easily be done on my own i assume?
*
Yes can be done by your self but depending on the type of wax, paste wax require some effort to apply, spray wax are the easiest, just spray on the surface and wipe it off.

For first application it is advisable to have your surface clean, you will need to wash it, decontaminate either with clay bar or strong cleaners, polish if necessary then only apply wax. if you don't have the time to prep your surface, you can send your car to detailer for polish and wax then later on you can just top up with spray wax periodically.

Usually, these 2in1 shampoo won't be anywhere as good as separately applied wax.

Hi Everyone, newbie here with some questions that hopefully can find some answers to.

My car has full front PPF and is coated. What would be a good weekly/bi-weekly wash routine for it that's relatively easy but still covers the important points?

My current plan is:
1- Pre-wash with IGL Blizzard
2- Wash with IGL Wash
3- Dry with cloth
4- Sealant with IGL Premier

Some questions I have are:
1. Saw some members have stated that IGL Premier can last a few months. If this is the case, does it make sense to re-apply it after every wash? Or skip it for most washes and only re-apply every 2-4 washes? Or use a different sealant altogether? (I'm not too keen on having too many different solutions in stock to avoid clutter)
2. Is a drying aid really necessary?
3. Saw that IGL Enhancer is a quick detailer with drying aid. Would this be a more suitable alternative to IGL Premier in my case?

As you can tell, my main concerns are regarding the last few steps after washing. Any feedback or suggestions or tips if I missed anything will be super appreciated!
*
During your rinse after step 2, you should be able to determine if the existing protection is still present on the surface, if you felt that the water repellant effect is not as good as before, then go ahead with your preferred product.

I personally use IGL enhancer on every wash because firstly it helps to pre-moist and soften up the tower before i go onto the paint, secondly it add abit of protection to the paint.

Hi, I’d like to ask fellow car owners with white paint if you experience stubborn stains after heavy rain? I notice black dust from the rain that sticks to my car, and even after washing with soap, it doesn't come off easily. I have to use wax to remove it. My car is already coated – I used IGL at the front and Carpro UK2.0 on the roof and rear, but isnt coating supposed to bead water? but after a heavy rain like few days, the hydrophobic effect gone. What's odd is that after washing, instead of water beading, it creates water sheeting. My current solution is to apply wax or use Carpro Reload 2.0 to quickly remove these stubborn black dust stains.

Car is solid white color... rclxub.gif

Ah yes, worst nightmare of white car owners.. I'm one of them too laugh.gif

The best way to keep your white car spotless is to wash the car everytime after the driving in the rain, but lets be real.. Most of us have better things to do than washing the car right after the rain, so at the very least wash weekly with stronger shampoo like carpro reset or gyeon restart. But even with that my car that's ceramic coated still get some very faint grey stains after 6-8 months, so usually after a year I would return to the detailer for coating maintenance (as I still have coating warranty with them). They will usually use an even stronger shampoo either more alkaline or acidic shampoo to wash off the stain, if that didn't work, they will spot polish the stain out then recoat the whole car.

As for your water repellant situation, did you do the coating yourself? Did your shampoo contains wax? It felt like the coating wasn't done/cured properly and it was washed away during the rain or your washing session or it could be the wax create another layer that promotes sheeting covering up the ceramic coating effect

Soft 99 Ultra Glaco
Turtlewax Clearvue

Both I'm currently using on different cars, both can last quite well (at least 3 months). Soft99 is way easier to apply as it already have a built in applicator in the bottle, but I'm leaning towards Turtlewax purely based on its performance, both beads up quite well but the water on turtlewax glides off faster.
