The E90 lasts longer perhaps cos it parked indoor mostly.. Almost a year after apply with weekly regular washes.

Car previously prep by claying, polishing, wax and SnS

w o w.... applied last year and no topup after that?
*
Yup purposely no top up just to see how it held up

QUOTE(newhouseowner @ Aug 11 2020, 09:12 AM)
Both of your cars, I saw not much or no protection on body, windows still ok, maybe you can shorten to 8 months interval (or shorter based on condition) to reapply again. This way your car is always got protection and shiny throughout the year. This is the method I'm using, it works perfectly.

The City especially the front bonnet and roof looks beat up but the E90 still has some protection.

However both are still smooth when running microfiber during wash

Just another Friday... Someone asked about the gloss and wet look of long term use of SnS. Hope this gives an indication of a 12 yrs old ori paint with long term Mothers Cleaner Wax

Not sure if this helps but would normal polishing remove the swirl or need compounding?

I've got white rough spots, not paint on my roof only. Tried tar remover and didn't help. Am thinking what else can I try to remove it eg perhaps wet sanding? If yes which grit type should I try without damaging the paint?

can your hand feel the imperfection? i'm afraid the clear coat already compromised maybe need to just respray.

do you know what caused it?
*
Yes I can that small tiny one biji which I think caused by the pad during polish sometime a year ago...

It's not rust either

QUOTE(blurcase @ Jan 7 2021, 12:30 AM)
Erm, they look like paint chips of some sort. Your roof been repainted before?

Achieved this using IGL microfiber 6" with DA paired with Ceramic Polish & Wax without compounding. Not looking for perfection though, any prob with this result on a black Color ride? Do adv cos prior to this swirls all around on the hood roof and rear bonnet

From personal experience, 1000 grit and above is quite well removable via compounding and polishing. Although by hand is tiring, but I guess its better control of the sanding process.
*
Once used 2000 grit to remove oxidation too couple years back on the front right. So far so good
QUOTE(woodentiger86 @ Jan 19 2021, 05:41 PM)
Still can see visible swirls/RIDs on the paint.

Good results though. I'm also not able to get such clear results when I was using the DA almost a year ago.

Anyhow for the swirls, likely you might need to use a polish/compound instead of an AIO for the cutting power? What brand is the Ceramic Polish & Wax you used?
*
Brand is Turtle Wax Ceramic Polish & Wax and I think managed to removed 85% swirls. I don't have any compound in my mini arsenal like you 🤣🤣🤣

Anyway have used Osren Luminous Coat to coat it couple days ago after the deed. Perhaps need to get some compound later in the year 😅

It's terribly cheap. I still have one bottle left fro the 3 bottles bought fro Amazon in 2019... A little goes a long way for 5 cars

Got money do ppf. Coating gives some protection but might induce more waterspots if you don't wash your car often.
DIY wax your own will be cheaper if you have time.
I switched from coating to self wash & wax, and i love my car more now 😄

Btw..
If one that washes weekly and rinse in between, would coating helps? Also can use SnS or Last Coat as maintenance right?

Hmm, nope. I just leave that tank as is. Though I always suspect it's just water.

I don't use the rain wash on my car either.

I carry a basket of car care items in my car's boot so I got time to react in case got any bird poop or tree sap on my ride.
