Spot on! Just to add on for point 7, don't dry under the sun because similar to point 2, heat from the sun will also 'melt' the fibers of the cloth causing them to have a hard time absorbing liquid afterwards.
*
This I kena before sad.gif initially I was wondering why my clothes becomes old fast. Then what happened was I dry in shaded area, but in the evening sun it will shine a bit in... and thus uhh it got fried there. Plus also sometimes I hang it then forgot about it then left for few days.. and speaking about that.. my clothes from my windscreen polish still hang aiyo. Time to collect back.

Yeah. I don't dare dry any detailing towels outside, always indoors. On the other hand I have the problem that I sometimes I forget my towels still soaking in buckets and left them overnight for a bit longer than intended. Haha
*
I dry them indoor too, but problem is evening sun gets in that area a bit plus at times I totally forgot about it. Need to make it habit to set reminder =/. My items from Meguair's ordered during 27.3 finally arrived yay!

Items were well packed, and discount was good too.

Meguair's HWC RM73.50 (700ml+) versus Osren SiO2 RM58 (300ml), meh seems like Osren no longer best bang for the bucks.

I feel Osren's Luminous series are generally not bang for buck products. You pay a premium for convenience of it being ready to use, probably targeted at the average consumers rather than enthusiasts. Their litre packaging products (those 1 or 4 litre packs) offer better value.

Plus, Osren HCS can dilute 1:4 for subsequent top up maintenance spray smile.gif
*
The only one I had from the Luminous range is this haha, cause I wanted to try these spray SiO2 hype and I'm sold. But right now trying out the Meg's HCW since during 27.3 have discount for it smile.gif

I asked for the bigger packaging Hydro Ceramic Shield,

1L = RM120, still the Meg is a cheaper option assuming its the same performance at the same liquid content lah. Henry advised to apply the Hydro Ceramic Shield when car is dry for better performance, while I checked Meguair's instructions is when car is wet. Lets see how it goes.

Another brand I plan to try after I used up the Meg's is Turtle Wax Seal and Shine or maybe the latest Ceramic Wax.

I did the survey too when I first got HCW and I had very lousy results at first when I followed the steps - probably one element missing from it plus the Meg's UK Youtube videos was that I didn't have a pressure washer to really blast the product into the paintwork.

Even to the extent went to Meg's Forums or Autogeek to see more clarification on the wet application. Actually it works better if it's applied first time in the dry [for me la]. brows.gif

Have fun with your new detailing toys!

Hmm, looks like similar concept then. I'll try with the pressure washer see how it goes. I mean if it works with pressure washer... even better LOL!

Hi guys.. really don't understand most of the items you guys mentioned.. sorry have to ask for simple solution..

My car is black colour, I've started washing my car recently, always use Meguairs wash and wax yellow color. I need to wax the car myself now, it has lost its shine and have some watermark..

Plan to buy waterwax spray and wipe.. can? Any recommendations guys? Heard of Soft99 but worry it's hard to buff off.. had nightmare last time I bought cheap wax spoilt my old car..
Please guys.. I need a simple solution to start first, slowly explore more..

You can consider Turtle Wax Ice Seal and Shine, one of the more durable spray products.

My car has white spots of outdoor wall paint (water based acrylic paint) what’s the best way to remove them? If I use finger nail, it will come off but I would have scratched the surface 😅. My black rims also have some 😑.

Maybe hit it with APC or clay?

Edit : Previously I successfully removed paint overspray with clay bar. Not sure what kind paint tho.
*
Hmm, let me try again. I think I tried APC before didn't work, clay too. If I sort of, scrape it with my fingers it would come off. Uhh. But I cause scratches especially on my rims ._.

I see.. Last time I used PG claybar. Mid strength one if i remember correctly. With ONR as lubrication. The same area need to clay multiple passes to fully clean it, but still it did the trick in my case.
*
I will give it another go, I only have the Osren clay bar (not sure what strength it is...)

If clay cannot, try cleaner wax/AIO polish. Last resolution will be compound cream.

AIO didn't work for sure =/ this one just tried. I googled seems to use IPA will be able to do it though.

Osren Paint Restorer 51, I think I have a Meguair's AIO red bottle one around, maybe will try that too. Else I will probably try Meg's UC eventually.

Yes, the B22 has that zoom function and so I usually zoom it out to make the light as diffused as possible. I also have to hold the light as high as possible for some "stubborn" colours.

Focused lighting will blind you (literally) away from the imperfections.

Any LED torchlight would do, seriously. For me, it's how you use it. You can get a Scangrip Sunmatch and still be a total noob.  doh.gif

Just pick any decent ones you can find. And practice with the angles. Trust me, you will master it. Took some time for me to properly use my lights too.

Specs wise, I would prefer something with a high Colour Rendering Index (CRI) and slightly warmer temperatures to achieve better colour renditions.

So I would personally recommend the B22. Nitecore has some decent inspection lights as well, which I plan to get soon.

And if you want free lighting, the sun or your TNB lamp posts.  biggrin.gif
*
I find lampu TNB very good haha! Everytime I walk on the road I see the cars under those yellow lights, fuh the swirls very obvious.

You are indeed right, Meg's HWC if applied in dry is better performance than the recommended methods from Meguair's. I guess Meg recommended that for "user experience' so it feels faster and less cumbersome.

Yea glad to hear.

Trial and error. I followed instructions on the wet application but somehow couldn't get the desired results. biggrin.gif

How's the water beading holding up so far? Been raining almost daily lately too.

Haven't started using tongue.gif Finishing up my Osren Coatz before opening the Meg's HWC.

Just did a quick DIY on a small area [too small in the end] during my lunch break:

Taped off a rather small area on the bonnet to test. Used both Ultimate Compound [MUC] and finished off with Ultimate Polish [MUP].

- Can't really see the swirls in the pics actually
user posted image

user posted image

- Trying to show the area with swirls but somehow the pics doesn't show + cloudy skies so I guess the lighting conditions weren't ideal
user posted image

- After one pass of MUC
user posted image

I didn't take the end result after removing the tape cos I seriously couldn't see if the swirls were reduced against the untreated areas. Will wait for brighter sun to be out to assess the paint again.
*
What you should do is snap photo with the flash turned on. The swirls will appear under the spot light.

1/4 of my car is covered by the mini awning, therefore always got water dropping directly on my hood causing the protection there disappear quicker during this MCO period. So I decided to protect it with car cover instead LOL. My car usually go to work on weekday and parked indoor and only weekends open.. but since MCO keep outside in the hot sun and rain sad.gif

Nice bro!

I have prior bad experience with car covers. Used to have one too many years ago and I kept it on come rain or shine - didn't touch it after cover for weeks.

Then once opened the cover, noticed some areas - it literally like became melted or stuck to the paintwork or glass areas like sticky residue. Guess the combination of heat + rain + reheat + didn't remove the cover regularly to 'air it' made the cover deteriorate?

Yea, my roof area can't cover much of the car and you know how 'short' Myvi is anyways vs a sedan. Haha. Quite similar to you, prior to MCO, my ride is parked in a covered basement parking whilst I'm at office so usually only night time and weekends exposed to the elements when I'm at home.

MCO time, now almost every morning I quickly wash it to remove the beads before the hot sun comes out otherwise will leave those unsightly watermarks on my ride.  ranting.gif
*
Yeah, I don't dare buy those cheaper ones. This is 2 layers, RM230 I think for it. I hope it doesn't stick on my car surface, else I sure emo -.- reason I got this cause even after MCO is over, I will be working 1 week at office, 1 week from home so... pity my car.

Ohh no wonder.

Yea, I think back then the ones I used were those < RM40-50 I suppose.

Thin 1 layer that looks like plastic from outside.

Thanks for the tip. Guess wanna care for car can't really skimp on the quality and get a proper cover.
*
Hope it lasts long enough, at least until MCO ends... got 3 months warranty... so can stress test haha!

Haha, yea. That's why this whole week I try to quickly wipe away the excess rain drops before the sun comes out then end up I have severe watermarks on the roof. Really eyesore and more pain to remedy.

I'm trying this method I watched on Meg's USA Youtube recently. I know the guy did some 'patting' on the towel to dry the car but I do something quite similar lately after rainfall. I just take a small towel then damp it and just put in on top of the roof, then slowly drag it towards me. I keep repeating the steps on the whole roof, pausing to wring it after every 2-3 passes.

Somehow it works even better than my previous method of taking a towel and 'wiping' the water beads away...
*
Hose a little to bead more water away before you do that tongue.gif less wrings.
