Hi guys, recently just bought a PS VITA Slim pch-2006 at lowyat... yes " KL lowyat "...
The guys told me that this ps vita can by pass region and to ply all games freely, but charge me extra rm100.
After that I realized that there is no region lock for the ps vita itself nor any physical game cards.
But then I discovered that certain forum actually discussing about region lock.
Some say yes it's region lock for the PSN account only and some said region lock for the DLC... If need to download certain region game dlc thn u need to get pass the region
Some say there is no region lock such things.
I can't confirm which one is the truth, but I surely know that I get cheated by that fella.
coz my PS vita got no switch region things or it's has just I dnt knw whr is it?
I just want to know that is region lock really exists ?
and what do you guys think a PS VITA Slim pch-2006 that cost rm800?
good, fair or bad deal? Pls help me to solve my question.
Thanks in advance
1. ps vita is region free meaning if you buy Japanese game and play on Malaysian vita, it will work.
2. yup, you were scammed rm100 if they charge you extra to 'unlock the region'.
3. yup, there is a region lock for ps vita in the sense that you can't register more than 1 psn account on it unlike ps3.
this means if you buy usa game, you need to register usa psn account and buy from usa psn store.
doesn't matter if your ps vita is Malaysian/sg set, but once you register on usa psn store, that's the region you are stuck with.
4. rm800 is fair price for a brand new set with sony Malaysia warranty. iinm you can get extra 1 year or 3 month extension on the warranty if you register it online.
and since it's official set, means that if you want to claim warranty, just go to Sony KLCC or The curve service centres, bring your ps vita and receipt etc. and as long as it's registered online, you will be served.
unlike last time when warranty is shop warranty and you can get cheated...
5. as it is, ps vita scene is 'dead' in the usa but still good in asia/japan regions. i'd recommend registering Malaysia PS store bcos sometimes some usa ps store dlc are compatible with Malaysian ps store games... (case in point would be umvc3)...
