ppl learn from mistakes, and other brighter ppl learn from other ppl's mistakes...
Ok so we're abit dumb, whats wrong about that?

wacky, some errors are really mistakes. some errors are due to lack of common sense before posting. smile.gif

what warrior mentioned is absolutely true, time and again i find forummers here keep giving opinions that are either false or outdated - all just because they HEARD someone said so.

it's getting pretty annoying.

it's not about who being dumb or what - it's about lacking common sense. don't know? not sure? lack information /experience in a particular topic? then don't post, if you want to give information that do your very best to give an as accurate an answer as possible, not something based on myths or old information. smile.gif

even if you don't know the answer, then you can try googling. you may learn and at the same time share your answer - at least that's a more proper way of answering questions.

download it from http://www.cpuid.com/download/cpu-z-138.zip smile.gif

CPU-Z is good, it's the application that we OCer use to check our system.

And GPU power is some other named but still core....
Its in the tab where u set the D.O.T

well, i'n not going to adjust my voltage, i scared i'll break the limit of my PC and produce fire inside my casing, and i also dont know much about the voltage, the basic concept i know is, voltage will produce heat.

yes, but also stability. it won't cause fire la. biggrin.gif

at most overheat then shutdown. tongue.gif

usually OCing requires you to play around with the balance of speed + vcore boost + temperature.

for me, though i'm running fanless. i can do 2.5ghz with 1.65vcore but it's hotter. or i can settle with 2.4 at 1.5vcore (default) vcore and it's much cooler. so i want more speed, i have to boost vcore to stabilize it.

my previous boards allow me to go 1.8vcore, but then this board, maximum is 1.65 but it's good enough for me. 1.8ghz to 2.5ghz - cannot complain already.

erm. yeah. bad.

even if you fail Prime95, your system should at least allow you to play game and whatever without auto-restart.

however passing Prime95 tests would be best to prove your system is 100% stable, or at least close to it.

you should also examine the air-flow in your casing.

i think the air-flow in my casing r 100% good lar, i open the side cover, and let a large fan blow the motherboard, but when i go to the event viewer, it say:

if your casing air-flow is good, you wouldn't even have to do what you're doing. smile.gif

so now you have good air-flow thanks to your face (and waste electricity)

reset your CMOS. refer to the manual, look for keywords like CLEAR CMOS JUMPER.

there's a reason why there's a CLEAR CMOS JUMPER on motherboards, simply because in some cases you can't even access the BIOS to restore default settings. smile.gif

I dont really get it... icon_question.gif it says need recovery diskette? I dont even have floppy disk sad.gif

i use nvidia nTune software and i use GIGABYTE M61PM-S2, i didnt adjust the PCI-E bus speed itself, i just let the nvidia nTune to tune itself, at first it boost my processor to 2.5 then hang, and then it take it down to 2.3GHz, and yesterday be4 i sleep, i take it up to 2.4GHz, and now still works fine for me, the PCI-E bus speed seem not to be so useful.

EDIT: y after i overclock my PC, when i go to the control panel > system there, it still show me 2.21GHz although i already adjust to 2.4GHz, and one more things, is 589.980MHz very high for my kingston PC4200 DDRs 1GB RAM?
*
Ok, I was informed that the nTune has different frequency reading for some reasons but it doesnt matter anyway. From what u r saying, I'm assuming u r using the auto overclock function. The reason why your graphics card displaying artifacts (corrupted textures) is because your card has native memory capacity of 256MB and 512MB if u r running in Turboforce mode. That turboforce mode is using your system RAM, probably when your ram is o/ced too high (which also means your graphics RAM o/ced as well), it gives u artifacts.

This is purely speculative...i have never use/own this card but google told me it's a turbocache card.

AFAIK, u dont need a diskette to reset the CMOS. Diskette is probably for flashing a new BIOS etc.

EDIT: LOL it looks like this mobo really needs a recovery diskette. sweat.gif

YEAH.. I had manage to reset the CMOS without any diskette smile.gif

questions:

1. since I had clear my CMOS, when I reboot into BIOS again, why it still remember my previous setting like Disable on board sound, Disable Floppy.
only the RAM timing was set back to default.

2. what cause the problem of failure to boot after I tweaked the timing to 2.5, 2, 2, 6?
if it is too tight, is increasing the voltage thingy will help?

3. how to strike an optimum timing if I have 2 pair of DDR (Dual channel) at the speed of 266MHz and 400MHz?

please enlighten me.. happy new year guys!
