i did that twice but the problem is still recurring basically is not "system hang", i should make it clear... the fact is the recording light is staying on and it does not record any video.
Dvr can be dangerous to you. You are recording from home to your workplace. If someone break your car screen snatch your dvr. They will now where you stay when they replay the dvr content.
I think acceptable. I compare it with my other DVR which is a Novatek based and its comparable. Sometimes the Mi is better and sometimes the Novatek look better. Mi does have more noise in the video.
I bought it because it has wifi to view the video and take picture whereas the Novatek one would have to take out the sd card to copy.
Mi for RM182 vs Novatek for RM12x (bought from Taobao), I think I still prefer the Mi for the wifi implementation. One thing though.. the image quality also depend highly on the tint. Most people have tint their windscreen and it does disperse the light that went through. Thats why I think it look horrible at night compared to the promo video that demonstrate the dvr capability.
Actually the Xiaoyi dashcam's A12 chipset is a Novatek 96660 chipset... They just rebrand it as their own...
You need to know which Novatek chipset your RM12x dashcam is using... Could be a lower range Novatek chipset...
Another thing is that you need to know what image sensor is used... Xiaoyi dashcam is using Aptina AR0230CS image sensor...
This is not an updated chart but the Novatek 96660 is among Ambarella A7 & A12 range...
not sure. still looking actually.. Im planning to get a discreet dashcam. or maybe not even getting another one.
Cause recently my housing area got few cars got broken into dy..
and Yi Dashcam isnt very discreet. So yeah, worried someone might smash my windows for it, even though its not even an expensive dashcam but what do the thieves know..
If discreet, can look at A118C or the A119 or the Shadow1s or the B40D...
The Xiaomi Yi 4K is launching soon - wondering if it's worth it since the price is 4-5X more than the current one. It has the same specs as the GoPro Hero 4 Black though...
That 1 is Xiaoyi 4K action cam... This thread is about the Xiaoyi dashcam... 2 different types of cams wor...
Anyway the Xiaoyi 4k action cam is worth it... It's newer specs than GoPro Hero4 Black... Not same specs... It will kill the GoPro Hero4 Black in terms of specs and price...
potential buyers might want to hold off for a bit if you got the budget to spare.
estimated between 200-300 usd which is rm800-1.2k.
The successor to the Xiaoyi action cam but this thread is about the Xiaoyi dashcam... The Xiaoyi dashcam only rm200+-... So I don't think anyone here will spend RM1k+ to buy this as a dashcam...
It's a GoPro killer... I also want to buy Yi 4K action cam it but budget tight...
just thought id post it here as well since a lot of people may be just using it as a commuting cam and not so much a permanently mounted dash cam so this could be a good alternative.
I think it's sold out because there was discount code GBXiaoyi2 to buy it for US$216.99...
It's for those who likes to take their cam with them but for it to be a permanent dashcam could be a hassle to take it off and put it back and all... Anyway my 2sen...

I know, but SD card got 2 type, 1 is SDHC another is common SD. so I'm just curious whether they supported with SDHC or not.
You need to find out what the max size the micro sd card the dashcam support before buying the micro sd card... I can tell you the most can support max 32gb... Some is 64gb and some is 128gb and above...

most if not all supports sdhc, just the format type that's the concern more, ntfs / fat32
Just use the dashcam to format the micro sd card... It will format to the format it's using... No worries...
