I want to upgrade my rig. But im not sure other amd processor that can fit into my current MB (GIGABYTE 970a-DS3P).
My rig details: Processor - AMD FX-6300 GPU - GeForce GTX650 1gb DDR5 RAM - 8gb 1600mhz PSU - 450watts
And what could i do more to improve my game graphic to the max for DOTA2? Now i can only make it into 50% of full graphics only. And when i do to max, my fps drops until <50%
Thanks for your replies. Cheers! ✌🏻️

QUOTE(terence_nwb @ Mar 23 2016, 10:43 AM) If you play Dota 2 only then no need to upgrade the processor, invest in GPU instead. Get a GTX750Ti (around RM 500+) then you can get max settings 1080p60 easily But what if i wanted to max graphics in Farcry, CODas well. Is it just need to upgrade my gpu only? I dont know much in IT hardwares. Even i dont know why some are old processors but if got high cores its much expensives than the latest one. -.- This post has been edited by Fiqoque: Mar 23 2016, 10:55 AM

QUOTE(terence_nwb @ Mar 23 2016, 11:00 AM) Running max graphics setting in those games listed requires high end GPU and a capable CPU, this will cost you a lot, so prepare your wallet for it So what's your budget for the upgrade? Im already prepared for the cost. But the problem is, whats the best CPU that can fit my MOBo? Because i just recently changed my mobo since my CPU still work fine.

QUOTE(terence_nwb @ Mar 23 2016, 11:53 AM) FYI AM3+ socket is dead, the highest end CPU your mobo can support is FX8370, which I don't recommend you to upgrade from your current FX6300, better wait for new Zen FX CPU which is going to be released later this year. New GPU from Nvidia and AMD is also coming soon, if you can wait, I suggest you to wait, if not later when you find out you are actually paying the same price as the upcoming products but with weaker performance, you gonna Ouch! So if im going to upgrade the best amd cpu,gpu which 1 your recommend build? Because i dont have much money to spend into i5/i7 rig. I heard that amd is much cheaper to compare with intel and can get almost the same speed and everything

QUOTE(terence_nwb @ Mar 23 2016, 12:09 PM) They aren't equal in terms of performance even they (Intel vs AMD) have same speed/core. FX (Bulldozer) series CPU is using modules with 2 integer cores in each modules as "core", it is excel in those software/games which make use of it, but a dual core i3 can beat the highest end of FX series CPU in game if the game is operating in single threaded way. Your CPU is ok for modern gaming, just upgrade the GPU and PSU for the time being. AMD R9 390 and a decent 600W PSU will cost you around 2k+/-. Thanks for your time mate! Really helps alot. Will come back to you when its time for bigger upgrades!
