hmmm how about if i want to go AMD specs?
Is FX8350 and 990FX a good match?
*
AMD current CPU lineup is very old already, it is not worth to spend your money on it, better wait for Zen (upcoming AM4) platform which is expected to arrive in the next couple of months.

New games like Overwatch, Witcher 3 etc. Doesnt have to be highest specs as he is not too bothered with graphics quality, only smoothness. Thanks !

Hi, need recommendation with budget of RM5000 excluding monitor

[Budget] Around RM5000 to RM5050

[Purpose] Gaming mostly and work

[Hardwares that will be re-use] Optical Drive

[Monitor resolution] 1440p wQHD, 75 Hz

[Games & softwares that use frequently] FFXIV, steam games, latest games

[Personal preferences] Palit GPU any good?? Uncertain on GTX 1060 is sufficient on 1440p above 60 FPS or not else 1070

[Location] DotaTech, ETech, IdealTech

Thanks and cheers
*
If you run triple A titles on 1440p max settings, then GTX1070 and above is more preferred. Palit GPU is ok, price is cheap but not as premium as other brands like Asus, Gigabyte, MSI etc. You need to fork out extra few hundreds for those brands and in return, you get little to zero performance improvement (in terms of FPS) which is not budget friendly at all.

Intel Core i7 6700 - RM 1305
Gigabyte B150M-D3H (D4) - RM 379
Kingston 16GB (8GB x 2) DDR4 2133MHz Value RAM - RM 290
Palit GTX1070 8GB GDDR5 Jetstream - RM 1999
Kingston SSDNow UV400 240GB SSD - RM 255
WD Blue 1TB HDD - RM 209

Is there any parts I should swap as long as it doesnt exceed rm5k. sweat.gif

Alternative build would be a locked i7 rig which provides extra threads compared to 6600K.

If your ambient temperature is high and you do a lot of heavy OC, I suggest you to get a better cooler, same goes to RAM, get a high speed RAM when you have a Z170 mobo, Skylake CPU does benefit from high speed RAM.

Alo!

Can anyone quote me a rig upgrade for RM2k?

What I only need:

CPU (not planning to OC), Mobo, RAM and a bit for casing if possible
Rest of the hardware salvaging from old rig (hdd, psu n gpu)

Usage: Gaming & Photo rendering.

Thanks.
*
Since you didn't mention your case form factor and PSU length so I am going to reuse the current case and assume your case is ATX form factor which supports ATX mobo.

Intel Core i7 6700 - RM 1305
Gigabyte H170-HD3 (D4) - RM 446
Kingston 16GB (8GB x 2) DDR4 2133MHz Value RAM - RM 290

QUOTE(DK82 @ Aug 3 2016, 08:44 AM)
Hi all, this is a build I'm planning for a small corner of my study desk. I'm building this with the challenge to put air-cooling into a Corsair 250D.

Usage: Steam (AAA titles), Movies, Surfing, Music
Overclocking: No
Preferences: Casing must be 250D, must be air-cooling

Not too worried about the price since I'll be hunting after that. Rather I would appreciate feedback if I've overlooked any parts that are clearly bottlenecking/incompatible:

PSU  M12II-520 EVO
Casing Obsidian Series™ 250D Mini ITX PC Case, front fan replace with Spectre Black 200mm
Processor I7 6700
HSF  Hyper 103 - Can fit in after i remove the ODD bracket from the 250D
Mobo  MSI B150I GAMING PRO AC - WIFI/BT4.0 included
RAM  HyperX Fury DDR4 8GB 2133Mhz x 2
GPU  PALIT GeForce® GTX 1070 Dual Fan
SSD  Sandisk Ultra II - 480Gb

I realise that MSI-B150i comes with either AC or not (the wifi+BT module). Will it be better for me to opt for the AC, or just seperately get a USB dongle for the purpose?

I'll worry about the KB+M, monitor and speakers later on.

Thanks sifu2 sekalian notworthy.gif
*
I will go for on-board WiFi card instead of dongle anytime now, cheap dongle overheats too fast and might face frequent disconnection when it is hot, speaking from my own experience sweat.gif

Good day guys!

I'm looking to rebuild my rig since this one is dying off slowly. Prep RM2000 for whole CPU.

Parts I don't need to rebuild: DVD room, HDD, GC

Usage: Illustrator, gaming, youtube, watch movie.

Prefer: High power PSU as I am planning to plug in 2TB. Looking for i7 build. i5 is budget is too constrain.

Remark: I am in dilemma to whether reuse my CM690. It's bulky for mid tower and I am looking for other alternative; something small and lightweight. laugh.gif
*
i7 6700 costs 1.3k and you left 700 for the rest of the part only, so i5 is more budget friendly in your case.

What's your current GPU model?

2TB HDD doesn't require super high power PSU, just treat it as normal HDD.

Hi I need FIVE computers for my office and I have gotten the below quotation:-

Type A (RM1,330.00)

HP Pavillion 251-A150D Desktop PC; P/N N4R23AA
- intel pentium J2900 2.41 ghz processor
-2gb ddr3- 1600mhz ram
- 500gb sata harddisk
- ultra slim tray super multi dvdrw ODD
- hp 7 in 1 card reader
- on board ethernet support
- hp wlan 802.11 mini card
- Windows 10
- HP keyboard and mouse

Type B (RM1,200.00)

Clone system
- intel pentium G4400 2.7ghz processor
- asus intel H110M- D3 w/vga/snd/lan/matx motherboard
- kingston 4gb ddr3 1600 mhz ram
- 500gb sata 7200rpm hard disk
- asus 24x dvd-rw burner
- powerlogic 450W atx casing
- usb keyboard & mouse
My budget is around RM1,300 for the CPU, need something more future-proof too, can include SSD ? DDR4 rams necessary ? Which one to pick ? Need to modify any of the above specs ?
Any suggestions would be helpful, Thanks!
*
First option is out if your workload consists of excel/word/PPT processing, J2900 is weak and the 2GB RAM can barely do anything now.

The second option is better with latest Skylake Pentium CPU but you need to get Windows license key separately as it is a custom build PC.

Intel Core i3 6100 - RM 479
Asus H110M-K - RM 274
Kingston 8GB DDR4 2133MHz Value RAM - RM 147
WD Blue 1TB HDD - RM 209
Cheap OEM case + PSU ~ RM 100
Logitech MK200 Wired Combo - RM 65

Total: RM 1274 (ETech price inclusive of GST)

If you want a 120GB SSD to be included, you can either downgrade the i3 to Pentium or 8GB to 4GB RAM, top up a bit if necessary.

Leadtek GTX650Ti BOOST 2GD5 O.C.

If that's the case, maybe i5 will do. Would prefer to have a more long lasting proc as I don't want to spend so much on upgrading.

I have this issue right now, where my PC shut down itself after 1-2 seconds I turn on. And it keeps on repeat the on off until I switch off the power plug.

I would need a new PSU, ram ddr4 if possible, new MOBO, and new casing (Prefer small and lightweight).

You can consider getting a mITX rig if you prefer small, compact and light weight PC.

Intel Core i5 6500 - RM 835
Gigabyte H170N-WiFi - RM 516

Much better than CM PSU, in fact the CM V series PSU is the only PSU that you should consider when you want to pick CM, other CM models are just so-so (mixed Chinese and Taiwanese caps).

Some of the mITX mobo that are available in Malaysia:

Asus H110i-PLUS
ASRock H110M-ITX
ASRock H170M-ITX/ac
MSI H110I PRO AC

Can, just don't do something too demanding (or stress the PC), the PSU included with the case is "cap-ayam" brand and not suitable for high power requirement components, office use is fine.

You can use stock cooler or get a decent 3rd party air cooler like CM Hyper 212X/Cryorig H5 etc., please check the clearance of your case before buying.

Or if you already have a preferred case then let me know so I can tell you which air cooler to buy or can fit.

Guys, I need your help on recommendation of CPU. I need to buy a new CPU with budget around RM2500. I will use it mostly for gaming. Any recommendation will be appreciated. Thank you in advance!
*
CPU = processor itself only biggrin.gif

Should call it as 'rig' instead and the situation is a bit different in your case because your budget can fit RX470 8GB + i3 or RX460 4GB + i5 but there is no actual/real life benchmark or review yet, we are getting it much earlier than other country this time around sweat.gif

i5 + RX460 (weaker GPU with stronger CPU)
Intel Core i5 6402P - RM 707
Gigabyte H110M-DS2 (D4) - RM 249
Corsair 8GB DDR4 2133MHz Value RAM - RM 131
Sapphire RX460 4GB GDDR5 Nitro - RM 689
WD Blue 1TB HDD - RM 215
FSP Hexa+ 550W - RM 189
Tecware Alpha - RM 199

Total: RM 2534 (Techview price inclusive of GST)

i3 + RX470 (stronger GPU with weaker CPU)
Intel Core i3 6098P - RM 437
Gigabyte H110M-DS2 (D4) - RM 249
Corsair 8GB DDR4 2133MHz Value RAM - RM 131
Sapphire RX470 8GB GDDR5 Nitro+ - RM 1139
WD Blue 1TB HDD - RM 215
FSP Hexa+ 550W - RM 189
Tecware Alpha - RM 199

Total: RM 2559 (Techview price inclusive of GST)

RX480 is between GTX970 and GTX980.

My prediction:
RX470 is between GTX960 and GTX970 (or R9 380 to R9 390).
RX460 is between GTX950 and GTX960 (or R7 370 to R9 380).

RX460 is more worth in my opinion, 4GB version of RX470 is due to arrive in Malaysia soon as well at RM 989.

Hi guys. Would appreciate it if you could recommend a gaming rig primarily used for gaming (WoW) with a budget of RM3000. Thanks in advance!  notworthy.gif

EDIT: Excluding peripherals and monitor.
*
Intel Core i5 6402P - RM 707
Gigabyte H110M-DS2 (D4) - RM 249
Corsair 8GB DDR4 2133MHz Value RAM - RM 131
Palit GTX1060 6GB GDDR5 Dual Fan - RM 1249

Tecware Alpha - RM 199

Total: RM 2939 (Techview price inclusive of GST)

If you decide to play WoW only, you can save the money and get i3 + GTX750Ti rig, can be done with 2k only.

SSD can be added by downgrading the GPU to RX470 (not so worth) or RX460 (worth but expect huge performance deficit).

Kingston D4 2133 Value Ram
Sapphire R7 250X
1 TB WD blue
120G Kingston SSD
Corsair CX600W
Corsair Carbide Spec-03
*
Since no gaming, you might as well just drop the dedicated GPU and use the iGPU (HD 530) of your CPU, R7 250X is just 5 to 10% faster than HD 530 anyway, not worth spending RM 250+ for it.

Same goes to PSU, 600W is overkill, just get a 300 - 400W PSU smile.gif

Witcher 3 favors faster CPU, the others are ok with i3.

If you don't really care about the settings you can run and only want a more stable performance (FPS), i5 + RX460 is a better pick.

i3 + RX470 on the other hand will be able to run on higher graphics settings provided the i3 is not bottlenecking (hardly though).

Need to change the mobo because the chosen one is ATX currently, change it to Gigabyte B150M-D3H DDR4 (RM 379).

ETech is located in Kepong (lelong)

Some other shops that you can consider also:

Techview in PJ (lelong)

DotaTech in Ampang (lelong)

Idealtech in Pandan Indah (FB)

Lowyat Plaza (Viewnet, Jayacom, Cycom, TopMaid etc).

and many more, so basically you can choose the one you prefer and is closer to you (save time and cost).

You may need to ask yourself which form factor you prefer first, all the mobo listed by me are mITX form factor with only 2 RAM slots and 1 PCIe slot (limited upgrade ability), the pros is it can be very small and compact which meets your lightweight requirement.

Asus H110i-PLUS - around RM 350
ASRock H110M-ITX - around RM 350
ASRock H170M-ITX/ac - around RM 525
MSI H110I PRO AC - around RM 400
MSI B150I Gaming Pro - around RM 500

Any mobo is the market can also be used for gaming and illustrator editing, what matters the most is the CPU, RAM and GPU (and other components) that you are going to use on the mobo.
