212X is 158mm tall, Tecware Alpha max CPU height clearance is 160mm, technically it will fit.

Hi guys, I'm planning to build a budget gaming rig which can support most AAA games like witcher 3. (I have no problem with medium to high setting)

[B][Budget] Below 2.5k

[Purpose] Gaming, Surfing

[Hardwares that will be re-use] Monitor, wireless keyboard&mouse

[Monitor resolution]

[Games & softwares that use frequently] Fifa 16, witcher 3, battlefield and etc

[Personal preferences] none

[Location] Penang

thank you smile.gif

If you can fork out another RM 150 then get this instead.

Intel Core i5 6400 - RM 782
Gigabyte H110M-DS2 (D4) - RM 289
Corsair 8GB DDR4 2133MHz Value RAM - RM 162
Zotac GTX960 2GB GDDR5 ZT-90302-10M - RM 869
WD Blue 1TB HDD - RM 215
FSP Hexa+ 550W - RM 188
Bitfenix Nova - RM 149

Total: RM 2654 (ETech price inclusive of GST)

If cannot, then either downgrade the CPU to i3 or GPU to GTX950, but don't expect to be able to run at high settings 60 FPS for mid end card, most likely have to tune down the settings a lot to achieve stable 60 FPS nod.gif

No need GPU? Not for gaming? Or you already have a GPU? If yes can you please let me know the model, need to factor in it for PSU selection.

Hi Terence,
Gigabyte H110M-DS2 (D4) has 4 usb3, (2 at back panel, 2 internal headers).

Can the 2 internal header usb3 connected to rear side of the casing?
*
Not possible unless your casing is having the USB 3.0 port and its header connector at rear side which I think it doesn't exist now, the alternative solution would be using PCI-E USB 3.0 card.

actually, i received scholarship and they allocate me 2k for computer allowance.. I already have a laptop and planning to build a gaming rig tongue.gif .. yup its a gaming rig and i plan to buy gpu and monitor seperately in the future.. i think u can just list all the components.. sorry ya i dont know much about these things .. tq so much bro

Intel Core i5 6400 - RM 792
Gigabyte B150M-D3H (D4) - RM 403
Corsair 8GB DDR4 2133MHz Value RAM - RM 162
WD Blue 1TB HDD - RM 215
FSP Hexa+ 550W - RM 188
Tecware Alpha White - RM 229

Total: RM 1989 (ETech price inclusive of GST)

The PSU chosen is ok for low/mid power consumption card like Nvidia GTX900 series card, not suitable for high end AMD R9 series card like R9 390 (and above).

If you are planning to get a high end AMD card in the future then you better fork out your budget a bit to get a more decent PSU now.

Hey terence, Seems to me that both you and Tristan suggested the i3 proc with no room to fit in a entry level GC. Would games be able to run on low settings (Dota2/CSGO) with the inbuilt HD Graphics 530?
thumbup.gif thanks for the input.
*
Can, HD530 is equivalent to GT740/R7 250's in terms of performance.

Low settings 60FPS should be quite easy to achieve.

Hi, planning to upgrade my i5 4460 to i7 6xxx

Since the Intel 6xxx series need a new mobo, can suggest what mobo to buy too? Non-oc and can support both sli and crossfire. Maybe change gpu later.

Budget <2k
*
SLI/CF requires Z170 board, but please take note not all Z170 mobo are able to run SLI, only few selected.

Intel Core i7 6700 - RM 1305
Asus Z170 Pro Gaming - RM 719

Total: RM 2024 (ETech price inclusive of GST)

You need new DDR4 RAM too since Haswell is using DDR3 and you cannot reuse it.

yes bro, jz for 3 item
pentium i3 can run gta v?
kindly advise
thx ya
*
Can run but not recommended due to heavy shutter reported from PC community, GTA V is a CPU demanding games, i3 just barely keeping up with the requirements.

Edit: Saw you mentioned Pentium i3, there is no Pentium i3, Pentium is another series of Intel CPU while i3 is under Core i series, two are different things.

The mobo requires DDR4 RAM, make sure you have compatible hardware to reuse if there is any.

Hi terence, thanks for the suggestion. icon_rolleyes.gif  Can you explain to me a bit more about RAM selection. is there any big difference between value ram and other brand such as the vengeance series etc. in terms of performance the vengeance series is better right? If i change my motherboard to Asus H170 Pro gaming is it okay or is it too much for the specs you suggested?
*
Since you aren't going for overclockable build (Z170 mobo), value RAM will do the job fine, this is because even if you get Corsair Vengeance 3000MHz RAM (for example), you will end up with 2133MHz only due to max supported RAM speed of non-Z170 mobo is 2133MHz only which is the base clock of DDR4 RAM module, so no point getting something expensive which you can't fully utilize the benefit of it.

Changing mobo to Asus H170 is possible with top up.

Because some people say i should change to latest intel processor

Depends on the games you play, if you can get same frame rate (assume 60 FPS similar settings) on your current system then you don't have to fork out so much money to adopt to new Intel Skylake system.

[Purpose] 3Ds Max, AutoCAD & etc designing software

[Hardwares that will be re-use] None

[Monitor resolution] 1920 * 1080

[Location] KL

Need CPU and monitor(23"-24")..

Since current market price between Haswell & Skylake wont have a lot different, suggest to get Skylake right?

Normally those design softwares is recommended to use nVidia GPU right? if use skylake i3 with higher end nViadia GPU, will it bottleneck?
*
Focus on CPU (at least i5) then only spend the rest on GPU since some software use GPU only during rendering process, CPU is still the main factor during normal operation.

Thanks for your recommendation..if I replace the GPU with R9 280X, will it better than GTX750Ti? Cuz i can get it cheap..just worry the performance in rendering will not as good as nVidia..  hmm.gif
*
R9 280X is much faster than GTX750Ti in terms of raw power.

But 3Ds Max is able to utilize Nvidia's CUDA to speed up the rendering operation though.
