A Massdrop Liquid Cavalli Carbon now for only $299, oh boy they really shat on the original Carbon owners.
Though plus side is no lifetimewarranty, but don't think that's worth 2x the price lol
*
What a bummer. I bet the resale value for the original LC gonna drop by a good margin.

tried out Sonarworks True-Fi software (similar to their famous Reference 3 software but simplified), sounds amazing with my Focal Elear. noticeable improvement in the upper mids and the highs, making female vocal much more enjoyable to listen (Elear is not known for good female vocal rendition, most probably its biggest weakness).

might consider buying the license soon. at the moment, im using the 10 days trial from their website.

Interesting. I'll try the free trial first smile.gif

That's a good dac. It uses the same ES9018 chip as the X-sabre and I can assure that it sound good and powerful; I am not sure if they would update the chip for nfb-1 in the future.

I am a bit skeptical, looks like it only applying equalizer according to your headphones. Any real benefit?

Once installed, the only thing that I can adjust is the bass db and volume. hmmm I am not sure if it's a volume either. It's an adjustment based on specific age. Everything is set up for you automatically. but honestly, the difference is minimal and you couldn't adjust other things. When I increase the bass for more than 3 db, the sounds mesh and mix with the mids. Felt like there's a distortion going on there. My initial impression was bad actually. Might not gonna spend extra money on this.

have you selected your headphones option at the top of the menu interface?
*
Yes I did. Since I mod all my headphones, I think that might effect the FR. I have numbers of IEMs that are not modded but it's not in the list.

ah, that explains it. the equalizer is tweaked based on the frequency of the stock headphones.

Just found out the discount ended on 30th Sept sad.gif

Anyway, my friend is using the TrueFi beta with his HD600 with no amp. With the EQ he said it made night n day difference and would much prefer the "Flat" EQ of TrueFi.
*
That sounds promising actually. I'll see if I can get something from canjam this weekend and try it with truefi.

Funny how some items will kena some won't kena. See luck. So far the things I bought online belum kena YET. don't wanna jinx it but after what LegoWarfare mentioned I think I'm gonna deal directly with Music Sanctuary. Not to mentioned their reputation is very positive!

Out of curiosity, what headphone/IEM is the cable for?

Unless you REALLY need the portability then those full sized cans would suffice.

Yup. I do have a numbers of IEM in use whenever I go out. Do you use the 6XX with ZX2?

Or you can consider Starpickers in-house built cables or Amplified Head. They carry Effect Audio cables and a few others. I bought Starpickers in-house cable for my 1964 during KLAV. Don't really believe in spending so much on cables lol
*
I do hear differences between Dana Lazulli reference cable and stock HEK V2 during canjam. Dana Robin himself setup the whole system with two sets of HEK V2 and the only difference between them for that setup is the cable. They cable is amazing! But, considering on spending on a cable that cost you almost the same money of the headphone price or even more expensive, just doesn't seems real sometimes. I end up buying a decent cable or make my own.
