Hi. Just wanted to ask if there's any particular shop/group where I can find pre-owned Myethos figures?

Just wanted to ask... has anyone managed to evade customs using SAL shipping from Japan?

I have a figure coming in valued at more than RM500 (store refused to undervalue) and I am wondering what are the chances that she can escape customs if I use SAL? I heard that EMS is a guaranteed hit with customs.

I only had one that came in over RM500 before, around RM 511 declared value, SAL and luckily it passed.

Which shop did you buy from btw?

AmiAmi.

Tough luck when it comes to amiami, they'll never under-declare anything. How much is the value btw? I've had stuff valued around 600 evade customs. Really depends on luck I guess. And also how generous amiami is with the packaging. The bigger the box, the more likely it'll get inspected?  sweat.gif

Yeah, which is why I have decided to mentally prepare myself for my very first customs charge sweat.gif Mine is about RM680 not including the shipping fee.

I saw the latest shipping update of my figure parcel this morning... and wondering why it jumped to JB (because my parcel always goes to Melaka from KLIA before coming to my district) So what do I do now? Will they call me or send a letter/email? This is the first time my figure is held by customs.

Poslaju? If yes, what's the tracker at pos.com.my says?
*
It says the same too. I used SAL Small Packet.

If by tomorrow the status didn't change, just go to kastam there to collect. The notice can arrive weeks later lol

*edit: call pos malaysia today first
*
I called pos malaysia (surprisingly they picked up fast and the man was very nice and polite) and he confirmed that the parcel is with customs in JB. I asked him what to do, if I should wait for a call/email/letter and he said since the status is just new (updated yesterday), he suggest I call customs to ask regarding the progress first, he gave me the number 03-87773694.

And I have called several times and no one picks up. Wondering if anyone knows another number to call? *EDIT: Also tried 03-87773777

PS. I am from the Northern part of Johor so the trip to JB is ~2 hours so I wanted to properly confirm that I can go collect it before doing so. Scared that it becomes a wasted trip sweat.gif

Though I will probably wait it out till after CNY, road travel is a no-no during festive season.

my advice chill until custom update ur parcel, even if u call them they wont speed up the whole process, after they update it u can choose either to collect it urself or let poslaju handle it (they incur additional charges to handle it for u)
*
Alright smile.gif When they update it, does the online tracking change to some form of instructions on what to do?

I am really sorry for asking these noob-ish questions, this is my first time getting a parcel held by customs sweat.gif (all figures >RM500 will be bought everywhere but AmiAmi from now on)

different states experience may vary..mine the pos laju call me to ask whether I want to authorize them to settle the import tax, the status online simply shows that my package is detained by customs without anything else..after I authorize poslaju to clear the tax for me then the status will start updating again
*
I received the customs letter today smile.gif If I may ask a few more questions...

- If I authorize Poslaju to clear the tax, do I still need to send all the invoice proof to the customs dept?
- And how much % of tax do they charge? Do they give you a receipt for it?

yes, poslaju will ask you for the invoice.

should be 6% (not sure) plus other charges and yes, poslaju will give you the breakdown invoice (whole stack of documents for you to sign off upon collection).
*
Thanks a lot! I will email them the documents then.

What is the POS Malaysia email to write use since I have the same situation?
*
The email stated in my letter was pljb_customs@poslaju.com.my
I think it depends on the place where your parcel is being held, mine is in JB customs and that's their email.

Guys, need some advice. My figures got detained in kastam and  I’m not so versed in dealing with them. My mistakes tho, last time i ordered something from mandarake was about 7 years ago. I thought the less than 500 rules still applies. So when i ordered some figures (5 box) with a grand total of about rm480 i thought everything would be just fine, so i proceed with the order and pay thru paypal. (Total with all the charges/exchange rate from paypal and cc was rm495)
So yesterday, when I received a msg from custom saying my stuff being detained. I just print out the paypal receipt and mandarake order and show it to them. But they dont accept the  payment that i made thru paypal, and insisted on using their own current exchange rate which would result in grand total of rm502 and taxable. Then, i just agree la, and prepare to pay the tax of 10% which was 50+. But then the officer says my package have more than 2 items and need to declare by agent. This is a new thing for me, the agent is already standby there and explain to me the procedure. First i had to submit clarification form at MySafe (http://mysafe.kpdnhep.gov.my) and wait for them to clarify which takes about a week. Then, if clarification success, i need to forward him the copy for him to process and etc. The total charges would be 150+. Is this the correct procedure currently? Just wanted to have second opinion or something. I feel so stupid 😢

Apparently it's a new policy they are putting in place this year. I went personally to JB to claim my figure from customs recently, and the counter guy was being very nice to me. And he brought me over a big MySafe notice pasted on the wall and told me that they were going to start implementing this system soon - he said that it was more or less of a ?safety certificate for toys (and btw, I hate it when people refer to figures as toys) - I guess it's something like the SIRIM certificate for electronics that are imported from overseas? And he was going on about how they have to make sure that the toys that are being imported and sold to customers are certified locally as safe for kids (but I did not ask him if they would still charge it if the figure was bought for personal keeping of an adult, I just wanted to get out of there as fast as I could XD)

And I don't know the criteria with which they will withold figures for MySafe certification... is it from multiple items, or above RM500, or if they are going to open every figure box onward? I am having a figure (less than RM500) being delivered to me from Japan so I guess I will find out soon enough.

Personally, I think MySafe serves no purpose except the exclusive reason to charge more money. yawn.gif

According to my friend who is a kastam officer in KL, you can do the procedure for mysafe by yourselves, but it will take quite a while. Anyway this mysafe thingie on imported parcel is a pilot test program, at least until June this year. Though do take note the rules could be different on East Malaysia, since kastam there have more autonomy than West Malaysia
*
Will they implement it for every toy/figure parcel?

If declared value over 500, or they suspect underdeclare, or sender is on their watchlist, they will detain first. Then upon inspection if it's deemed under mysafe rules, they will ask for cert, on top of the sst

Thanks for the info. I received my figure today safely (less than RM500 worth), which confirms that they only target above RM500 for the MySafe.

I guess I will have to stick to cheaper priced figures if ordering from abroad then.

The Japan post to Malaysia has been steadily getting faster.

One of my figures arrived last month after 4 weeks, the next took 3 weeks. The latest one was posted on 30th August and reached KLIA on 3rd September. Not bad at all.

EDIT: I am using Air Small packet.

Oh, Air Small Packet is resuming eh
I planned on holding off from buying from Japan for the rest of the year.

I think you got confused between SAL and Air smile.gif Air Small Packet has always been available. It is SAL Small Packet that hasn't been in service since the start of lockdown - and the one I am missing the most because it's cheaper compared to Air.

I am also holding off on potential purchases from Japan but the ones I really want, I use Air to get them because they are essentially the cheapest shipping at the moment.

KLIA post hub reopened yesterday, and my pending Airmail from Japan since 20th October was scanned in today.

Hopefully they will resume accepting international EMS and airmail soon after working through the 2-weeks backlog of stuck parcels.
