Hi all.

Does anyone tried or currently using dual SSD raid in macbook pro?

Currently using single SSD. Thinking about taking out super drive and install another SSD.

Any thoughts are welcome. Thanks!

This sounds like an awesome project you are embarking. Which RAID config you are planning on doing? What am I saying, must be RAID 0

When i initially read it, i already thought, some may think that TS means Raid 1 and wonder why ! It has to be raid 0 like u mentioned.

yes! i took out my super drive from my old MBP 2011 and install another SSD. Going for RAID 0 will post the speed test later using Blackmagic and AJA System test

haha no. was thinking only RAID 0

Installed latest 10.11.3 El Capitan. It doesnt have RAID option in disk utility but can do using Terminal







this is the results so far. Quite impressive tho.......

double the speed from single SSD

but of course PCIE SSD has much more read and write speed compared to SSD Raid configuration

ha true...el capitan ditched the raid, terminal was the way. You have done your homework.


damn, readings are not bad. its almost as close as the reading in the link above. nice tweak dude.

thanks! were using normal kingston SSD. reading would be greater if using high end SSDs, i guess.

yes. people has been complaining about it to Apple. cant configure RAID storage unless using 3rd party apps. hopefully they bring back RAID option in the next update.

hahaha yeah enjoying much. whole day cleaning, installing caddy, replace thermal paste etc. its like a whole new machine

the only thing missing in this lappy is just the 3.0 ports and retina display
