So, should i go for AL ATP3 or Edifier M3300 (3310 or 3400-these models are available in my local warehouses ) ? How good are they ? (i'm afraid of selling them instantly when i get 1 of them shipped !)
*
My vote goes to M3300. It's a good speaker for music superb clarity and tight bass. Performance with movies is also good but if you're a bass head or gamer, then go for others. Of all the budget models you listed, M3300 wins hands down ... at least for me smile.gif

just got M3300...

i hate telling the truth but M3300 really gave me a big disappointment. sad.gif  As most of u here recommended me go for M3300 due to its clarity and tight bass. U r right about the clarity but i couldnt see there's tight bass ...all it could perform was a weak and inappropriate low frequency to its good treble  blink.gif. I tried maximizing the bass boosting as much as i could and the result got worse and worse  shakehead.gif
------------------
i think that M3300 is just mediocre in performance.  There's certainly a gap between M3300 and ATP3 (the same situation there when i compare it to VS 4121 sad.gif ). Maybe its clarity gets the point but it totally lose the rest !
-------------------
Thx for all of ur advices. This thread is EDIFIER's FAN CLUB, So definitely some guys assess EDIFIER's products partially. They r give more peformance than EDIFIER can offer customers.
We need more true evalution or feedback  than exaggeration  hmm.gif

Really sorry that you did not get what you expected but you should have really tested it out before making your decision. You asked for an opinion and we gave you our opinion. Opinions and assessments about audio are always subjective and leans to personal taste and budget. Anyway I did tell you to go for other options if you're a bass lover. Good luck in your quest for better sound.

Is the design final for S2.1MKII ? Will the satellites have piano finishing ?
Hopefully the price can be competitive .... I hope it will be somewhere in the GMX 2.1 price bracket. Else its pretty obvious which is the obvious choice at the same price ... S2.1MKII or AegoM

For GMX range, u can try the S2.1M which is 6.5" woofer (power rate: 80W) and the price should be higher than the current S2.1 and below the GMX 2.1. The sound quality definitely will better than the old S2.1D. U can try the prototype in our showroom.

Beside that, we will have another version call S2.1, which have 8" woofer driver. Hopefully the price is at GMX2.1 bracket.

This year looks to be quite an exciting year for Edifier. One comment though ... you guys really need to do something about the naming of the new models ... so many variations of S2.1 rclxub.gif

Maybe we should stop using these audiophile jargons like "tight bass" when giving recommendations and stick to layman's term tongue.gif

xterminator: Tell us more about your test. Give a review if possible. Many of us are to far away to visit the showroom.

i felt fed up wit my fren when he saying dat my newly bought Edifier M3300 is lousy if compare to Altec,i was very angry wit wat he said,as i noe,Edifier speaker has the bast bass among all brand, even is 2.1,3.1 n so on,do ur all agree?
*
Hahaha ... well it depends who you are talking to. For some people, boomy bass is better. Anyway what's more important is how you feel about your own speaker. If you're happy with it then it wouldn't matter what your friend say smile.gif

doh.gif

Why make a big deal in convincing people which is better. Think of speakers as ice cream. Some people like chocolate and others like strawberry. It depends on personal taste. Take Aego M speakers, although it is generally agreed that it is a good set, some still find the brightness too much. It boils down to personal taste. However one thing I think everyone would agree is that Edifier gives a better performance/price ratio.

Tried out the s2.1MKII. Impressed with the bass, deep and solid compared to s2.1D feel like it  can shake my house laugh.gif  Mid and high seems to be quite good.... Untill I compared them with S2000. I know it it is unfair to compare them but...wth who cares laugh.gif

Everything seems to be totally different. I feel that I am losing a lot details and stuff. The s2000 sounded so smooth and silky, dunno how to explain doh.gif . Btw, I personally like the bass from the s2000 even more. Really sweet and very good for music.

How would you rate the s2.1MKII with the likes of GMX2.1, MX5021 and dare I say Aego M ?

QUOTE(Banzai_san @ Feb 17 2007, 02:14 AM)
2 qns on M3300:
1- the subwoofer is facing the side. Would adjusting the subwoofer to face front make a lot of difference? or is it better to let the subwoofer to face its side.
2- the speakers I heard I believe are new. Would there be any noticable improvement in sound quality after their burn-in period? Would the bass improve and the treble not too bright?

*
1. Honestly, I feel that there is a noticeable difference. If you are facing it at the front, the bass is more defined and tight. If you are directly facing the side, you feel a little boominess and muddled but the effects decrease when you a farther away from the side of the woofer. Best to put the front side facing your seating position.

2. The bass will get looser and deeper in time but it is marginal. Don't expect it to turn into a boom-boom speaker after a month. I don't think the treble will decrease but you will get used to it and appreciate it more. I feel that all musical speakers are like this; tight but not boomy bass with bright trebles. Using good sound card improves it. I added a AV-710 and the bass became even punchier with more detailed.

I'm not an audio techie myself but I do have a M3300. I believe the technical term for the air hole is 'hyperboloidal bass port'. I believe this enhances the bass. The hyperboloidal bass port should be facing your seating position for defined, tight bass. If you face the woofer speaker itself, the effect is slight boominess and muddled. Burned in speakers performance is very subjective. Some say no difference and some swear it is noticeable.

M3300 wins hands down compared with Altec's entry level speakers but I bet AL fans would tell you otherwise tongue.gif

I would say r501MKII would be a better all rounder choice for 5.1 setup. M3500 if i'm not mistaken, uses same satellites and woofer of m3300 is performs superb for music but people don't usually buy 5.1 setup for music. So the 501's woofer is much powerful and good for games.
