QUOTE(FayeChan @ Dec 8 2007, 11:10 PM)
At the Edifier booth as I stepped into the Audio Hall of the PC Fair, the price of the the S.21D/S530D is placed at RM729.

Pretty pricey if I do say so (despite the good sound quality) where as at comparison, there are powerful speakers in the form of the Altec Lansing MX5021 @ RM599 and the Logitech Z2300 @ RM589.

I had a quick audition for the S530D. All I can say is that it is definitely a very good speaker. Very powerful set of speaker enough to fill whole of All IT Mall. Clarity is very good and bass is very tight and solid without being boomy. The demo unit is very warm sounding but it is adjustable because it has a separate bass and treble control. I feel that the price is quite justifiable because compared to Aego M, with this speaker comes out top as being an all rounder for games and movies. Aego M is still better in terms of soundstage, separation and detail but only marginal. The S530D's woofer is more powerful than the Aego M and it comes with adjustable treble. However it would be nice is its price is around RM600 then it would be totally unbeatable.

Its because Edifier lose on marketing. For normal PC users Altec Lansing = best in PC audio. But they never research that Altec got some crappy speaker also. When they hear Edifier, straight no interest liao ....
So Edifier need to promote their brand name now that they have solid products.

Ya, I agree that S530D is very good. While Aego M more suited for music, S530D is good for everything. That bass more powerfull than Aego

For classical music you have to get M3300. I just upgraded from M3300 to Aego M. The M3300 clarity so good for its price that upgrading from it to Aego only bring marginal difference. Of course there are many other aspect that makes it not as good as Aego. If you're bass head then you can consider Altec.

When things are newly assembled, the parts are usually tight and rigid. So you need to exercise it so that the parts loosen or smoothen up. So burning in is to exercise your driver, tweeters and woofer so that they loosen up and sound better.

To burn in you just need to use a burn in tools like here

http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/122229

Some people believe burning in improves sound, some people don't bother because using your speaker normally will eventually make it progressively sound better. So it is subjective.

Hope this helps.

No you shouldn't. For my M3300, the bass actually sound tight and punchy facing the 'hole' or rather the hyperbodial port. When facing the woofer grille, the bass is muddy.

Upgrading from AL VS4121 to Edifier ? I also tested the S530D. In terms of music, it still lose to Aego M. But for movies and games, S530 is better because the woofer more powerful. So as all rounder S530D is better with equal price range.

For me I put the M3300 sub on top of the table with the hole facing me so the bass is punchy.

aego m is in the same price bracket at Edifier S530D. Comparison with C3 would be unfair.

I upgraded from m3300 to Aego M. People have been saying how upgrading from other speakers to Aego M blew them away with the extra clarity and noticing musical instruments that they didn't notice before. For me the difference between m3300 to aego M is although noticeable but not as a big impact as others would describe. That either shows how good m3300 is or how sh*tty other speaker is compared to the clarity of m3300.

Wah the S730D finally out ? Too bad it took so long to finally reach us. Aego M already gaining a large following since it was first announced. Still I'm curious to see how much it cost and its performance.

Been browsing through headfi, saw a few threads people saying Edifier S2.1D rocks for its price. Edifier hard to find in North America. Think they haven't get to try S2.1M, S530D, C3, etc ....

S530D will be out of your budget at RM700.
Go for M3300 or M3400.Both has headphone jack on the wired volume control. It is not amplified though.

Bought S530D.All i can say is the bass is very very strong and solid , definitely not like those boomy type like Z5500. Promotion price is RM699 + got Free Edifier Earphone(kind of like normal earphone).Bought from Sri Computer.

Sound is no regret to buy at this price. Be prepared to carry at least 20kg.

What ??!! So cheap ?!! Why no publicity one ? But I already went for the Aego M, which is quite good also la smile.gif
Ya S530D very good for all purpose of usage, that's where it beats Aego M which is more musical speaker.
