Hi everybody.. would like to get your opinion if this is a good place to introduce toddlers to music? Anybody experience with this JMC before?

Jmc start from age 4. My kids start with Music Wonderland at 2yo, learning basic rhythm, singing and etc .

Depend on parent. For example we just want to let our kids expose to music and group of kids. But some parent see it as a waste of money, usually quite many drop out in music Wonderland class after a month.

You can wait until 4yo and let your kids start with JMC

Ya JMC is for 4 - 6, already within the requirement..

Just that not sure if it is worth while as not sure kid's will learn something from it or just go there have fun in a group.

My son finished his JMC, now in JXC. My daughter just start her JMC.

Class is fun. Kids learn to sing solfege (do re mi), play keyboard / electone (not piano), read notes, listen to tones, etc, in a group environment with parents tagging along.

Some parents prefer kids to learn under 1-on-1 environment.
Some parents want the pace to be faster. The course is low pressure, and since it is in a group, some kids will be better than the others.

Important thing is to get a good instructor. Turnover for instructors at Yamaha could be high. Get a trial class. If you find the instructor to be "too young" and inexperienced, then wait for another class by another instructor ...

i was in JMC course... it's a good one... or u can wait for their music camp where the kids would be thrown into different instruments class... its normally like 3 days camp..

I'm adult now. I start with jmc course when I can't even talk well. Its very good to me, it make music a second nature to me.

What children learn in jmc can't be taught if they start grade 1 Abrsm like age8. Because JMC teaches music like ABC to kids.

Not really. My son and daughter typically practice ~ 10 min a day (consistency is the key).
Class is conducted using Yamaha Electone (electronic organ, cheapest model is ~RM9k). But you don't need to buy it. Can practice using cheaper electronic keyboard. My kids just happen to have a hand-me-down piano.
Music pieces are very easy at the beginning. The 1st piece is just kid using right thumb and play middle Do 3 times following music. By the end of 1st book (4 books for 2 years course), kid should be able to play simple pieces involving do-re-mi-fa-so easily using either hands. Some parents find this progress is too slowwwwww.

At the end of 2 years, there will be an assessment. Play 3 pieces of music, sing a song, sing solfege of a piece of music, read notes, recognise 8 basic chords.
No failure, all kids will pass

The solfege teaching when they are small kids is something they will learn that an adult student will find hard to learn when they are older.

Which is music hearing, or pitching. Anyway, I find jmc courses good from personal experience.

And I'm not a teacher lol, working adult now rofl

Be ready to invest your time to guide your kid. The drop out rate of JMC is surprisingly high during the first few months ... (from my observation around 30%).
Those that stick around tends to finish the 2 year course.

By the way, parents of the kids tend to become support group and friends eventually

Plan to roll out JMC for my kids, if my kids can sustain for the 3-6 months maybe plan to buy a beginner piano for her. Digital or acoustic piano ? How much is that ?

You don't need get electone or digital piano or acoustic piano.

Heck a rm700 keyboard is sufficient, or go buy secondhand keyboard from garage sales/secondhand fb groups for few hundred bucks.

Cheap keyboard are light on touch, for ur children to wack. And the way they wack, they going to spoil it eventually.

Why not digital piano or acoustic piano, the keys are too hard. And children lose interest fast or change interest [not their fault], so dun invest until u are sure they are continuing with the piano education later on.( imagine you spend 5k on piano only go hv ur kids say no interest, can buy motor d)

Edit: finished JMC when I was a kid. So I know what I saying lol

Thanks a lot bro, your input really change my mind. At 1st i only thought of getting cheap piano, but now i got extra choices "keyboard". It is true, for now their age is to whack instead of playing haha... Any keyboard recommendation max RM1K or RM1K below ? As long can play & practice, hook up to PC or ipad or AVR haha... Any features within this budget ? Not going to buy now, most probably after 3 - 6 months. Thanks a lot
