First impression on the HA100 was that it was surprisingly tiny and light weighted, measuring around (6.65 x 6.05 x 1.85) cm,which fits in my palm. The back of the HA100 is rubberised, which should add some grip to prevent sliding.

Package Content
1 x HA100
1 x Power Adapter (5V,1A)
1 x Micro-USB cable (0.5M)
1 x 3.5mm-to-3.5mm AUX cable (~0.8M)
1 x 3.5mm-to-RCA cable (~0.8M)
1 x NFC Tag
Quick Installation Guide

The HA100 is NFC-enabled,thus pairing is possible with NFC-enabled device by just tapping the HA100 or the extra NFC-tag, which has the same serial number as the HA100. Didn’t tested out this feature during the review (iPhone 6 has NFC but they are cannot pair with third party devices,it’s only used for Apple Pay)

The HA100 is equipped with Bluetooth 4.1 and it is able to store up to 8 different devices for automatic pairing

TP-LINK states that the maximum bluetooth range is 20 meters (within direct line of sight). Actual test where the Macbook is placed in the bedroom upstairs, the bluetooth signal becomes unacceptable when the HA100 is at the ground floor, thus actual bluetooth range may vary.

Actual Test
Hardware
- HA100
- Shure SE215 earphone

Bluetooth pairing is a breeze, just pair and the audio will automatically be played through the HA100.

Range Test
For bluetooth range testing, the HA100 is connected to a power bank and various location in the house have been tested.
For the same floor, the bluetooth signal is good for all the location tested, however once the HA100 is tested in a different floor, the signal deteriorate quickly and pauses between audio is observed.

Location with good signal: 1,2,3,4,5,11
Location with bad/no signal: 6,7,8,9,10,12,13

Sound quality is just fine, nothing to rant about.

Conclusion
The TP-LINK HA100 Bluetooth Music Receiver is just as advertised. If you are planning to make an existing speaker to go wireless, look no further as the HA100 would fit your need. Bluetooth range is kinda standard,as I own another bluetooth music receiver, their range are approximately the same,so there’s nothing much to compare between them.

Yes, using 3.5mm to 3.5mm audio cable or a 3.5mm to an RCA cable, both of which are supplied with the device.

my car audio has USB input and AUX input. Wanted to get this to plug it there. Problem is the USB only provides 0.5A of power. Would that be enough? Google searches results in nothing about this device used in cars.
