hi guys...just got myself a new rig cased in strike-x one advanced. everything is pretty much stock. 2 case fan (rear & front) + stock cpu cooler. some lite gaming after work mostly...but i rarely turn off my pc..

i5 3470
8gb ram
gtx 550 ti oc

1) gonna change the stock cpu cooler, please recommend me a good entry level cooler? (within rm150+/- tongue.gif)

2) gonna add 2 more 120mm (top).. suggestions? possibly anything with red LED to match.

3) how good is corsair h60 for my setup?

1)CM 212 evo should be fine, or this. Got dual fan some more. Spire dual fan cpu cooler

2)Either Enermax TB silence LED or Enermax TB appolish, take your pick. I suggested these two since it does not have sleeve bearing thus suitable for use as top fans. you can find his name at garage sales.

3) IMO, I don't think it's good. if you want that kind of setup I suggest you get a H80 or H100 instead. of course YMMV.

thanks mate. can u explain the relation of sleeve bearings fan vs non sleeve usage as top fan?

the 212 evo reviews sound good..might gonna get 1 & attach 1 more fan to it.. what fans are used on it? might as well change em to XIGMATEK XAF F1253 or CM Xtraflo 12

Here's some articles about fan bearings.

basics of fan bearings

ball vs sleeve bearing

another ball vs sleeve bearing article

AFAIK, sleeve bearings when mounted as top fan, the lubricant will not be able to lubricate the bearing since it isn't sealed thus will shorten the life of the fan. OTOH other bearing other than sleeve might have some kind of sealing so that the bearing will stay lubricated even when mounted as top fan.

if you want push pull setup, might as well get the cm xtraflow 120 red but you might need pwm splitter cable lol.

pwm splitter cables ebay

is this the fore mentioned splitter cable?

thanks
