the only problem is the version that I got doesn't comes with speed sensor....

however it's half of the price of Scythe .... will try out and then only decide to try Scythe or not ...

Aio ... depend on ur setup loh ..

if u like UV effect then better off with UV setup entirely ..

if u like CCFL then everything CCFL style loh ..

Not so hard to decide right now ???

QUOTE(prez0n @ Jan 10 2008, 03:21 PM)
by the way, how to paint the fan itself only? into UV effect? i saw some forumer pain their 120mm or 80mm fan in various color, then got UV effect one, how they done it? just simply buy a flou spray? need help seriously....

by the way, what is the difference between UV and CCFL??
*
You have to get fluorescents paints and spray paint it ..

But must be careful while doing in the painting not to spray the paint to the motor..

CCFL just a abbreviation for Cold Cathode Fluorescent Lamp .. its a lamp that produced less heat.

While UV just a type light ...

these two can't be compared coz .. CCFL could built to generate UV light to get UV effect ..

other CCFL only produce light source according to color without additional effect.

going to jln pasar to get some good NMB fan...
roughly how much the price?
*
should be less than RM50 if not mistaken... last time interested but just don't like the plain look of the fan only..

I don't think so .. .especially for fluorescents paints..

Just grab two different brands for same color and try it out ..

First of all it should be 8cm, 9cm and 12cm fan that u are asking..

There are few brands that offer quiet and near silent fans

Silent
Noctua, Scythe

Quiet
Akasa, Yate Loon, CoolerMaster

There should be more ... but usually hard to source ...

Anyway all those brands do offer 8 and 12cm. however,it's a bit hard those in 9cm.

Two ways to control fan speed, Motherboad or Speed controller.

Motherboard adjust speed through chip embedded within the motherboard controlled by software. It works by adjusting the voltage supply to fan on each header.

to control fan speed on motheboard the fan must comes with speed sensor wire usually comes in Yellow.. or fan that has three wires leading from motor. Plug it to motherboad and adjust it in BIOS or 3rd party software like speedfan in Window environment.

As for speed controller, it comes with two rom slot size, 3.5" and 5.3" ..

It comes with 3 to 8 knots to control each individual fan. Most of time it could control the fan speed down to minimal but not 0 RPM ..

It just doesn't make sense to have fan running at 0 RPM ... better just switch it off right ?

Apart from Noctua and Scythe that cost about RM60 for a fan at 8cm size ..

others cost about RM20...

If u are looking into silent PSU, u could try Zalman heat pipe PSU which is really know for quietness.

I could also recommend Corsair PSU which is generally quiet enough for me ..

just for your information I'm definitely the silent geek... u could check with other forumer about my built style ..

I'm using solely Noctua fan in my case... brows.gif

yah.. PSU is one important factor ... that's why I loved my Corsair HX620 ...

so silent that I could only hear my Noctua fan whispering and HDD seek noise ..

my god, I wanted to change my current WD HDD to Samsung spinpoint that's so quiet and cooler by 4 degree...

The usual splitter branched out from one to two ..

so depend on the number of fans u want to power up ..

do the math and grab the splitter somewhere at LYP ...

less than RM10 each ...... nod.gif

CFM means cubit feet per minute ..

put it simple it refers to amount of airflow generated within the same amount of time ...

usually higher mean it could pushes more air through and effective distance is longer as well.

It can't really be comparable for the two different category of fan .. and basically it's not measure by RPM solely ...

if a fan with more and larger blades spin at the same speed (RPM) as a smaller fan ... obviously the fan with bigger blade would pushes more air (CFM) ...

use good fan that has better CFM over dBA ratio..

means .. more airflow at the same amount of noise output by the fan ...

It's usually expensive ... about RM60 and above .. such as Noctua and Scythe Flex .... a cheaper brand would be Yate Loon but all three are hard to get in MY ....

if it's not a high heat producing PC ...probably cooler master fans are just nice ..

it's comparable quiet but pushes lesser amount of air ...

if really want good quiet fan have to fork out RM60 for each ....
