Well, there is pros and cons. At least it prevents the dust from sticking at the fan itself. I had some tough time cleaning up those White FM121 last time and prevent them from turning grey

QUOTE(Volt @ Mar 29 2008, 01:31 AM) Well, to be honest, unless you really needed something that is totally silent, i wouldn't really recommend the Suscool. I mean, i am a pure supporter for Silverstone fans and they are absolutely good. But to be honest, the Suscool don't really meet my expectation (maybe its too high perharps Anyway, if you are really into something silent, i would gladly recommend Noctua over the Suscool but the problem is, its not available here. The Noctua is better than the Suscool to me. Put a dust filter over the Suscool and you will feel down to no air coming through. Guys, is there any recommended good, silent fan in the market at the moment? I need to get a few of these 12cm fans as some of my Silverstone are starting to die out. Currently thinking about the Gelid fan but is that good? It must have good cfm and acceptable noise level though cause i am pretty tired at the Silverstone's noisy fan.

Hi guys,
I am particularly interested in finding myself a cheap and silent fan for my second case. Been using Silverstone FM121 for some time now and its bloody noisy. Thus, am looking for something more silent (wayy more silent than the SS) and yet, still offers good airflow. Something like the Noctua but does not need to be in the same level. Can accept something lesser. Tried SS Suscool. Liked the silentness but hated the poor airflow. Is there anything better? Gelid? Xigmatek? CM 90cfm? I was particularly interested in the Xigmatek. Costing bout RM25 - 35 only. Spec wise, it does seem to be good at <20dBA and a good cfm as well. But is it really good in real life? And how silent is it? |

Well, i do not necessary need the Noctua. Just something that is silent but still, does not give up on performance. I have tried the Suscool and love the silence of the fan but too bad the performance is weak.
After looking around, it seems that the Xigmatek is offered in a rather good price and was wondering whether it is noisy or not. |

QUOTE(Doom @ Jun 17 2009, 09:38 AM) well, the sound level is very subjective .. LOL..Being me, anything more silent that the horrendous FM121 shall be ok at the moment. But yea, its kinda subjective anyway. Probably going to give the Xigmatek a try first as they seem to be quite cheap for a good fan.so u got to try it urself before ... able to justify whether u could accept it or not loh .. . |

Waiting for his reply on the slim fans as well. Need that badly for my top fan for the A10. Damn heatsinks of the mobo is causing trouble putting a fan there. LOL...
Btw, how good are those scythe fans? I mean, if i am looking for something that is silent and still offers a good performance, which version should i look into? The slipstreams? |

QUOTE(mADmAN @ Sep 26 2009, 01:13 PM) i want the fan for the same reason too...top exhaust on the A10. right now due to the Inverted ATX conversion the 25mm fan is blocking my USB port pins on my mobo so i cant hav any front USB ports... although im thinking of putting back to ATX and mounting the Xigmatek Dark Knight to blow air upwards (right into the exhaust fan). does the top fan block the mobo's mosfet heatsinks? EDIT: forgot to mention....i hope sanko can bring in the most power slim fan....coz then i can run at 5v or 7v or 12v. so ill have choices on how much noise/power i can have.... if go for the weakest one...ill only have 1 option....lembik |
