There are hundreds of babies who have gone through surgery from day one of birth already. They grow up well and fine. Doctors don't suggest surgery for babies unless absolutely necessary. They also don't want to do it if they can avoid it. It's not the surgery that you should really worry about because the doctors and nurses will all be there to handle everything but post-surgery while recovering, when it's just you and baby at home with no doctors and nurses to take over. When a baby HAS to have surgery, it's actually better to do it before they start crawling. Easier for parents to ensure baby will fully recover. When they start crawling everywhere, how to explain to your baby to stay still? How to explain why you have to hurt them and hold them down while you change their bandages?
I assume for hypospadias, your baby will be going through circumcision surgery to remove the foreskin? Many many many Malay Muslim families get their babies circumcised before they can crawl, for easier recovery than waiting until later when they're older. I believe it's the most common surgical procedure for babies in Malaysia. My MIL tried to persuade my hubby and I to get it done to our babies too because my hubby had hypospadias and the surgery, after he already started commando crawling. She said the penis took forever to heal, because my hubby was pushing himself on his belly everywhere leaving bloody marks on the floor. My hubby is 36 this year, by the way, so his circumcision was over 35 years ago, and yes, they used anesthesia. |

Hi hanishoney, you mention that your husband has hypospadias too. Can I confirm that he do the surgery also? Coz I a little bit confuse on your post above. Based on your experience, is it necessary to do the surgery (I assume you and your husband already consult with doctor, if not please ignore this question)? I'm also encounter this problem. Just knowing this decease after I married. I'm now 31 years old and just married last year. Currently is trying to have our own child and I'm not so sure whether this problem is a major issue to get my wife pregnant. Maybe you can share your thought or experience.I assume for hypospadias, your baby will be going through circumcision surgery to remove the foreskin? Your child should have his surgery performed by a paediatric Urologist surgeon. They deal with this regularly and are experts with the smaller sizes of children and their results are fantastic. The adult Urologist only sometimes does operations for children. Here is a helpful article and video on the topic. Hope it helps you and your boy: Dr Nada on Hypospadias https://pictr.com/images/2020/02/13/5ebXZj.md.jpg |
