hey there, i was suspended for three days between 19th-22nd dec. i have PM-ed badawi_rocks for an explanation but he hasn't gotten back to me yet, perhaps he is busy. i suspect foulplay because i think i know who made the complaint and he did it out of spite. can a moderator please assist me on this? thanks biggrin.gif

Its the holiday season. You might have to wait a little longer to bring up your case with the respective staff/admin.

However, your suspension does seem warranted (as in you did commit the offense, and it doesn't really matter what the motive was for the complainant to report you)

Oooh, right, holidays. hhmm, which post exactly, if i may know? because i am aware of other people who say much worse things and get away with it. and the motive of the complainant is of course essential because he holds a grudge from like 2 months ago and was just lurking around waiting for an opportunity. i just want to make sure he not abusing his powers. i like this forum and i'd hate to see someone like that ruining all the fun.

all it says is i was suspended for "trolling" but i'm not exactly sure what it was i did. because if i incited a flame war, then why aren't the other more extreme ppl suspended as well? i was voicing my opinion but i didnt purposely pick fights with anyone. and i am very certain i didnt say anything controversial just to provoke a response. in fact, i have been told by quite a few of the guys there that my advice was helpful and they appreciated it.

After looking into your case, it's actually debatable on whether or not the warning is deserved. It looks more like a gray area to me but I'm fine with either way.

Judging from your posts, don't you think the way you post is a little bit too... aggressive? Try not to take what other people said too seriously, I believe the debate could definitely be carried out in a more peaceful way

If you think those posts are offensive, just use the "Report" button and leave it to moderators to take care of it, instead of posting a long and angry post to elicit yet another reply. It's never going to end that way smile.gif

i wasnt spamming though. i think that much is clear.

samurai, the thing is, yes i admit my replies may seem aggressive to those who did not follow the thread closely. but if u read the other replies, u will get a better understanding of why i felt i had to assert my stand on the matter.

anyway, darklight and i do not bear grudges, quite the opposite in fact. so how can i be accused of starting a flame war if we are still friends? it is merely a good-natured debate. sure, it gets heated at times, but we are able to look past that and still be friends. that's what logical, rational people do.

the person who complained is actually holding a personal grudge from another thread 2 months ago. i dont think it's right for him to hit below the belt just because he cant get over it.

the moderators look at things objectively, IMHO. they don't factor in subjective things.

if you are just debating as friends and such, you should definitely state it in your posts.

haha, i thought it was clear. i didn't resort to any foul language or display anything to show i was out of control. if i recall correctly, i was only being sarcastic, but not in any way vulgar or trying to incite a flame war. in fact, if anything, i think darklight and unknown warrior's posts are more controversial than mine.

p.s. dont you find it suspicious that the ppl who were supposedly in a flame war with me did not report me at all but the person who held a grudge from a garage sales thread did?

Wheres the post that got her reported? Interesting case, i got a douche who said he wanted to do stuffs to me just cause he was "in a very bad mood" all i wanted was an explanation and he didn't give it to me,<-wtf is that, but that was 2 years ago and i still can find it in my heart to forgive him.

This is the post/thread that got you reported. You have since edited it (therefore may not be the original post that was reported).

I'd also like to remind you that as part of the moderator group, I have NO access to hand out warnings/suspensions.

The reason for your suspension?

That is YOUR thread. You are partially responsible for the direction it travels. The onus thereby falls on YOU (not darklight as you suggested) to report the thread if the discussion falls too far from the target. Yet, you didn't. For 3 or more pages, it was non-stop, back and forth, flaming and flamebaiting. The report was made well before your "kiss and make up" with darklight, so that is not an excuse. Just because you're friends now doesn't detract from the fact that you put some of the forumers who went to your thread through some kind of shock to see several people engaged in a mud-slinging competition that had nothing to do with the thread title. Since then your thread has since been closed down by a different moderator for the same reasons.

What happened in Garage Sales stays in Garage Sales, it had no bearing on this matter. That issue has been done with and it's over. I have since moved on. Don't drag it up again, just because you fudged up and got a slap on the wrist. I cannot accuse you of something you have not done, as I am required by the rules to provide a good reason for reporting. As you can see from the replies in this thread, I am not the only one who thinks that that particular thread was in need of some cooler heads.

Which post was it exactly? I edit a lot of my posts and my editing is usually done within 5 minutes of posting. Mostly it's due to grammatical errors and spelling errors.

Mudsling competition that has nothing to do with the thread title? If you went through the posts, you will be able to see that our debate has much to do with the thread. Darklight said that he thinks the guys there try too hard to win a girl's affection, to which I disagreed, and the points brought forth thereafter are almost all inter-related.

Darklight and I did not take the debate as seriously as you did, hence making it easy for us to move beyond our disagreement. Take note of my use of "lol" and other signals, which shows I mean it in a light-hearted manner. It is difficult to tell a person's true emotions over the Internet, so it is essential to consider the effect of these simple signs. For instance, you probably would not have known that darklight was having the time of his life out there. Starting a flame war? I don't think so.

Rest assured, no forummers were harmed in the process. Also, moderator chewxy closed the thread after I was suspended because he didn't want things to get out of hand while I was not there, not because he thought I started a flame war. He also thought that it should be closed until I sort certain things out.

I started this thread to find out exactly what it is that I've done to warrant a suspension so that I would not repeat it in the future. This is not to get you into trouble, although the nature of my suspension does raise certain puzzling questions. After all, as you have so kindly pointed out, I cannot accuse you of something you have not done, no? Lighten up a little, dear. Come on, it's the festive season!

P/S: OT. Altie, I think we need to talk about the grudge you've held from 2 months ago. I do feel sorry that youu have misunderstood me. I'm getting worried about your psychological well-being. It's not healthy for you to go on like this.
