Just tried Xperia X out last weekend at the Curve. I own a M5 now, and although a lot of online reviews seems to say Xperia X is a (overpriced) replacement for M5, I feel the Xperia X is a lot more refined compared to my M5. The camera is a lot faster shot-to-shot, faster than Z5 even.

I also like the curved screen better than on M5/Z5.

Still very hard to justify its flagship price. No sane company will put mid range hardware in to "flagship" device. The adreno510 just dont have the raw power. If they launch at 2099 still acceptable(still overpriced but hey its a sony). But not 2499.
*
I remember S7 launched with the 3099 price tag.
And cheapest iPhone 6s is 3199.

I guess Sony now also think that 2499 will be mid range and maybe X Performance going to come in at 3099 or 3199.

No need qoute iphone ba. No one else except apple sells em. Problem is sony malaysia says no plans of bringing in xp. So x is the new flagship. New flagship but mid range specs. Then why in the world sd800 series exist when sd600 can do the job just as good? 2499 and above is in the sd800 series price range. How to compare s7e with x? The normal s7 is just rm200 away and that is a full fledged flagship minus the edge screen. Sure lagwiz is not fully optimized as sony but that's the only point sony had over its closest competition in that price range.
*
Well, there are still android manufacturers that target iPhones, although they are becoming more and more rare. Why I like quoting iPhones because Apple is very good at making great experience phones with non high end hardware. They are able to be smoother with just 1GB of RAM for so long while an android with 2GB of RAM will lag.

A lot of phones also boast their spec so they sound good on paper, but they actually tuned it down to save battery. 4K in Z5, 6GB RAM in OnePlus, what else?

I guess Sony felt that its time to concentrate on the experience other than the specs, but having said that, how successful is this, we will have to wait and see.

Lagwiz has too much bloatware. My friend's S7 Edge comes with 4GB RAM and u only get 500MB RAM after a fresh reboot. What a piece of crap. Then there's always the big question like where has all the RAM gone too? Even my Sony with 2GB RAM has 600MB RAM. That's why I will never consider a Samsung ever.
*
Coming from a Nexus, I find even Sony have too many services running. lol.

I will also never consider a Samsung, because of the swapped two buttons though.

Seems like the x performance will be heading to uk (limited) and Germany which initially was not their plan. Not sure if Sony MY will change their plan.

Not sure what's their whole logic of not releasing it everywhere, licensing perhaps?

The Z5 also have not been to US, very strange.

Or someone who knows care to enlighten?

I still prefer X to X Performance though, 64 GB RAM, and also Radio!!! I use radio to watch tv quietly when my son is asleep.

Sony now seems to say the X Performance battery wont last as long as X and XA, they removed the 2 days battery life as well.

thing is the X and XA probably struggle to last the whole day
*
Lol, it can if you make it a dumb phone.

Yeah, but now you know the X Performance battery life is more sucky.

Hopefully this is not the effect of limiting the screen (and body) size to 5 inch and using a higher end processor.

Review review!!

If you have any specific questions please ask. Will try my best to answer.

I was using M5 previously. So that's what I am comparing against.

1. The screen is a lot nicer, more white, and more sharp. Even though they are technically the same specs.

2. The touch screen is a lot more responsive, very noticeable when using keyboard.

3. The NFC have been swapped to the front, guess got pros and cons, pros is now I can use a case, cons is it might be a bit awkward.

4. The original sony stamina mode is gone, but battery life seems good (need longer), not sure is it due to Sony or Marsmallow.

5. Haven't have time to play with the Camera yet.

And......
MOAR REVIEW PLEASE! XD

-Gaming performance
-camera
-wi-fi strength,
-bugs
-game-compatabilityness
-speaker's sound detail(does it crack at high volume?)
-call quality

Anything at all,please....wink.gif

I don't play games that much. tongue.gif

Will take a few pictures this weekend to try out the camera.

Haven't seen any bugs so far.

Wifi seems good. My previous M5 have this issue where sometimes the Wifi even though it is on, it can't see any access points, and need a reboot. This one does not have such issue yet so far.

I felt almost like an iPhone user buying this phone, caring less and less about specs, and more "faith".

The fingerprint sensor needs a bit getting used to, the power button is recessed, so I can't really press it if I put my whole thumb over it, so now I actually use the left tip of my thumb to press it.

Having the fingerprint sensor on the power button also give me small issue. When a whatsapp message come in, in my old phone, I will press power, then I can see the whatsapp notificaiton on the lockscreen, then I double tap it, and put in my pattern, then it will bring me to WhatsApp.

If I use the fingerprint now, once I press the power button with my thumb, it will unlock straight, and go back to my home screen, where I need to go and find and launch WhatsApp. Good thing that this phone have a double tap to wake phone, which I am currently trying out.

Battery life is pretty amazing, I unplugged my phone around 8am on Monday, and yesterday didn't charge it, this morning the phone still have about 60%. Think my previous M5 will go to about 20%. Though it is still new and the battery review is not conclusive yet.

will it be compact version for x series?

Don't think so, I remember reading that Sony have concluded that 5 inch is the perfect size.

Actually for me, 5 inch is the sweet spot, not 4.7 and not 5.2.

Some other manufacturers can fit 5.1 or 5.2 inch size screen in same (or negligible difference) footprint as Sony's phone.
Perhaps their studies were carried out based on their chunky bezel. Lol
*
Lol, they are very sensitive about their own design.

When I switched from Nexus 5 to Xperia M5, both 5 inch screens, yeah, I noticed that the phone is bigger, because Sony decided that the top and bottom should be symmetrical. It takes a while to get used to, but I am happy after that.

I found something different in the X's panel. Different colors have different white balance. The one i found on graphite black offers a much true to white screen, while the rest of the colors have slight blue cast over the white.

Well I have a black and a white, you want me to compare? biggrin.gif

As promised, here are some pictures that I have taken with the Xperia X with auto mode last weekend.

Two things
The object tracking is totally useless, it could not lock on to my kid gliding around even after repeated press. So I have gave up using it.

The camera felt really snappy when compared to my previous M5. I have compared it in store to a Z5 before and it is faster than the Z5. So this is the most important thing I wanted from a camera from my phone.

As for the quality of the shots, leave it to you guys to decide. tongue.gif

if the object is moving slowly, you will able to track it.
EDIT : but a 'hyperactive' kid may not able to successfully lock.
however, it is not as good as my A6000 which with a press of a button, it tracks the object intelligently and fast.
*
Well, I tried to "track" when my son is stationary, somehow it keep locking into other stuffs, not near the place I touch at all.

I have a feeling this tracking is also made complicated by the small sensor with big depth of field. I own the A5100 and I think it can decide the boundary by just looking at which parts is in focus and which parts not. This is obvious by the fact that the locking work less and less accurately on the A5100 when the aperture is made smaller and smaller.

Yeah, and in A5100 I don't need to initiate the Lock on AF most of the time, it manage to find the object that I want to focus 95% of the time. biggrin.gif

Oh yeah, there's this "promotion" thing happening about 1 year warranty to the screen. If you own a Xperia previously. I do own a Xperia M5, but when I go through the steps to register for the warranty, it doesn't ask for the IMEI of my old phone at all.

There was another leak here:
https://gfxbench.com/device.jsp?benchmark=g...&testgroup=info

The screen size stated is 5.1 inch.

Well, it really looked like X Performance 2, besides the fact that it seems to be using the 21MP camera from M5 instead of the 23MP from Z5/X.

The home screen seems to be using Google Now Launcher.
