Dell M65.
If you're feeling rich and can stand the bulk, Dell M90. If you're rich and want something more manageable, then perhaps get the Macbook Pro, and run XP on it. |

Go download the pricelist from Cycom at the LowYat main page as a guide la.
Also, go to Dell's site and go configure what you need. You have also not mention what programs you need to run on them, which really is the determining factor in what specs you need. |

You would benefit from a 7,200rpm drive.
And for Lightwave, you don't need a workstation class gfx card - which will lower the price quite a bit. It would also be better for you to stick with Nvidia. Just make sure you get the highest speed C2d you can afford and RAM. Other than that, whether you choose the Macbook Pro or Dell, or anything else really depends on aesthetics and price. |

Ah lightwave 3d... way less process consumption than Maya which what i am using now. Dell workstation laptop is way too expensive for you since FireGL / Quadro FX Go installed which will cost Rm8K ++ depends on your configuration.
My advice for right now is go for any laptop which have nVidia 7 series GO or ATI Radeon mobile ( X series ). Make sure you dont do intense rendering in your laptop due to heat. RAM wise, 1GB onwards is the best while 2GB is the best you can get in current laptops. For processor, 64bit is way to go due to future proof and maybe you are lucky to land yourself into Lightwave 9 64bit with WIndows XP 64bit Mac Book Pro is really good for digital artist but at certain task, the Mac Book Pro is pretty slow due to current application isnt universal yet in simple english it means that the applications isnt rewritten to cope with the Intel Duo Core 2 processors. I suggest if to wait till next year if you are going to opt for a Mac Book Pro. Good luck on your findings. Try scouting around www.cgtalk.com technical / hardware forum for more experts recommendation. |
