QUOTE(WhitE LighteR @ Mar 11 2016, 04:03 PM) *sorry off topic guys* i see the charge is also RM5, same as bank cheque. any advantage of rentas over bank cheque? as far as i can see both need to be done over the counter. people use rentas to transfer money to other banks, not necessary for FD, you don't need to take the banker cheque to your destination bank if for business transactions

QUOTE(WhitE LighteR @ Mar 11 2016, 04:34 PM) oh ic.. i guess in FD case since u need to be present there anyway it makes no diff.. unless u have RM in this case, banker cheque is much better because you can bring it to any banks you like, when you like. you can rentas if you already have a account at the other bank, so... bankers cheque is better for fd placement

QUOTE(vergil88 @ Mar 22 2016, 03:18 PM) cool. i'm new to FD. is it advisable to put in different banks?? there's a thing called PIDM to protect depositors but limited to RM250k per account, so if you have more than 250k, you can if you want different mature dates, yes you can also if not, it's just simply not convenience to have FD at multiple different banks

QUOTE(Xaphier @ Apr 19 2016, 09:55 AM) Hi guys, beginner here. I have been saving under Maybank FD and have never take out my funds before (I let it auto renew and roll over the interests). Anyway, I want to put my FD into Hong Leong Bank for a promotion that needed fresh funds, but I have no idea how to do it. First, I assume fresh fund is something that is not from their bank account, so I think I passed that criteria. Second, how do I send the fresh fund over? I have no cheque book. Do I use IBG or some sort? Bank draft? The sum is about 20k, so I am unable to take them out in cash. Thanks in advance! if you already have accounts in HLBB, than you can just IBG to that account, if not, you can take the bankers' cheque/ bank draft over to HLBB
