Even if 1USD = rm3 also nothing will changed, as debt/GDP are way out of balance.
More people getting bankrupt, people still need to borrow money to buy houses. So banks need more fresh money to keep the ball rolls.

Not when NPL are at all time high.

Actually your recent FD in HL, when it comes out in Nov, banks will have year end promo. But more on longer term FD. I did not really watchout for short term one in past years.

I know u are looking at short term. So will have to see what are the new offers from Sept onwards.
*
Er...when is the 4.5 6 months for HLBB going to end? I forgot when I put in already. tongue.gif

For a minimum of RM250K to max RM300k, you can get 5.5% (5+0.5) at PBB 50th anniversary Bonus $avers reward campaign from now till 31st July 2016.

One think I like about this campaign is that one can withdraw and deposit just like a SA and still enjoying 5.5% as long as you maintain Incremental Average Daily Balance of RM250K

we should enforce a standardized reporting template for posters to post fd info  vmad.gif

example:

Bank:
Branch/Location:
Date of Report/Placement:
Effective Interest/Profit Rate:
Promo Period (if any):
Minimum Placement:
Other Requirements: such as CASA, UT-linked, etc etc
Website/T&C (if any):

Good idea. But then again, will many people be lazy to post here then? unsure.gif

Other than MBB eFD 4.31%, few banks offering 4.3% top (except BR nego rate). NOT best is 4.5%, history now.  tongue.gif

Also 0.2% (not 0.3% tongue.gif ), can be RM200 per 100k FD sum FREE money in 1 year.    biggrin.gif

4.5 % is history now. Luckily Im still enjoying it, Going to end soon though. sweat.gif

I think the market is still on shortage of cash flow. So the banks will need more funds and hence the higher interests rates for fd, but then again, the banks are so strict in giving out loans because of NPL and defaulters. rolleyes.gif rclxub.gif

Interesting to see that banks are short of cash  as reported in the news. But recently the FD offer has been capped at 12 mth 4.3% vs the 4.5% offered about 2 months ago. Then again bank has tightened loans requirement, car sales plunged. Anyway lets see how FD promo plays out next week, June month ! biggrin.gif
*
Not only car sales plunged, the market has basically slowed down to a crawl. Just ask any business owners out there. Morever, its almost Raya time and i dont see any excitement picking up like last time. Banks are very 'stingy' in giving out loans. More so can be said of property loans, all my real estate agent friends are complaining for the past 1 and 1/2 year already. I dont see any point in banks increasing interest rates for FD while being too careful in giving out. This is actually killing the market slowly.
