if you're coming up with a suggestion, please provide proper reasoning as to why we should consider your suggestion.

Before/after you post your reason, how about solving the possible fact you'll find spamming increasing just so their post count is 50?
Do you suggest the mods live with the extra work and problems i.e mod them anyway, or shall you retract your suggestion? Or will you suggest an entirely viable way to solve this, though you must forgive me if I'm skeptical. |

Not to oppose your idea, but achieving post count to validate your membership is not actually a good idea for the community. Including myself, posting only comes on a need-to-do basis, while some others may consider getting sky-high post counts as an objective. Don't you think members might feel left out and discouraged to involve in the community if they are forced to achieve that amount of post count when their intentions aren't bad?
I supose your reason for this suggestion is because you've had some bad experience in trading with members of lower longevity here. All I can say is, this are isolated cases and rarely apply to all newer members like myself. Burning down an entire forest just because a snake attacked you shouldn't be the best solution, I think. Just my 2 cents This post has been edited by Samanoske Akechi: Dec 25 2006, 10:52 PM |

Or rather, instead of using post count, why don't we have "time seniority" instead. If the user registered like within 1 month, he/she is not entitled to open a topic in Garage Sales? I know, the coding section is going to be tedious, but using post count as a limit basis, is going to invite more spam... My 2 cents.

1st of all.....Why should there be a limitation of sales thread ?
I see there's no point for doing that..... Prevent fraud/con? using postcounts doesnt works that way.... Sales thread is fine for me, u are quite safe if u know what to do as a buyer.. p/s: btw i dont know how i get 3k postcounts, coz i just bullshit everywhere |

Coding that is simple; maybe 3-4 lines of code.I advise you to look at our dispute corner, where the con cases are documented. Convince yourself that your time seniority restriction would've made a difference, had it been implemented before those con cases happened.. |
