Ic... hopefully can get a good bargain at this coming KLIAV show. I think Yamaha will usually hold a warehouse sale annually but not sure these newer Aventage models will be on sale or not...

The last warehouse sale in KJ a couple of months ago didn't see the Aventage on sale. Was told that the Aventage was a hot selling range hence no clearance. Only had the RX-V 3 and 5 series.

Thanks for sharing bro! So the warehouse sale at KJ you mentioned was on March rite? Then maybe will have to wait for the coming KLIAV show whether they will be any good deals on these Aventage models! Btw, are you planning to get one for yourself as well?

Yeah it was end of March or early April. Nola, can't afford one now. Was in the area so helped a friend to check.

Which model are you looking for?

I just to check out the right AV receiver for longer lifespan as support most of audio standard if possible. My options limited to 5.1 only as limited space for more speakers. But hardly to find 5.1 AV receiver supported for Atmos, so far i found Onkyo 474 and Pioneer 832 (no available in Malaysia).

Yeah for some reason Yamaha's 7.1 channel AVR are perfectly happy running in a 3.1.2 config while the same is not extended to their 5.1 range. Maybe it's the price range which does not justify including the Atmos license or that the 3.1.2 setup is such a compromise on listening experience that it is not worth adding the support for.

Understand that you have space limitations but I have seen and experienced "rear surround" speakers mounted on the ceiling above the listening position. It's not ideal but it works.

Picked up an A880 today.

Don't like the remote. It's rubberised which means it'll get sticky in the future and doesn't seem to allow quick select of source. It has to scroll through it.

HyppTV box still causing issues with ARC.

Set up process is better compared to my old RX-V465. Need to run in before commenting on the sound.

this model is entry level for Aventage range, right? how much you bought it?

i wonder will there be any significant improvement compare RX-V685 and A880....
*
Yup entry level. Can't remember how much I paid already. Just after GST holiday ended but was given discount on the SST.

Have not used the 685 but it's a huge improvement over my 465.
