Just as long as your form is correct when doing any exercise, it will be alright. Simply flinging around will get you injured, which most amateur crossfitters do (then boasting about it, thats how it get a bad reputation).
Crossfit doesn't advovate good form. Sure, the trainer will say so but then when they do deads, it's all cat like........
